Credit to dice for not just sayin screw it, and caving on BF3. BF3 is there, just in cloak mode.

The "demo" for 1943 will be a TIMED demo, no word on how long it will be.

Good interview, well written as well. To bad Dice went in this direction with the Battlefield series, because I personally feel its way too arcadey for many of the Battlefield fans. For now I'll rely on Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising and Modern Warfare 2 for my military FPS experience this year.

I don't think it's going to be more arcady really, but definitely a bit smaller scale (even if DICE surprise us and allow 48 players for PC)

BF2 is already arcady enough, it's not serious in any way, at least I think so personally

              Re: FZ.se DICE Interview

The structure is simpler than before – only three player classes, automatic health recovery etc – but the developers are very determined that it still takes skill to master. I tried to play some Wake Island about a month ago and this time the classic has been switched to the not as well used Iwo Jima. The biggest difference from the original is playing with a gamepad (we’re testing the 360 version), but the biggest feeling is a kind of déjà vu. Which is positive.
I'm starting to think these people never actually played BF1942. If they think "the biggest" difference is the game pad... :shakehead:

BF1943 have support for a maximum of 24 players. A lot of people are annoyed and want at least 64. What do you tell them?
BF1943 will be a true PC game, with all it stands for. It’s not a bad port, I can promise it will make the PC players happy. About the player numbers, I’m going to guess people will be satisfied anyway.
Translation: We dont care what the players want and we think we know better.

You guys are cracking me up with your completely misguided optimism. You're falling for the trap. There is no BF3 and BC2 is a console game. There is no changing that fact. It will be a port!

If there was a BF3, it would be coming out with the rest of these games. After these, the BF name is going to suffer and their player base will decrease. Hence, no BF3.

I don't like Patrick Lius attitude towards us fans. Some how arrogant and it's not the first time... :icon_confused:

                  Re: FZ.se DICE Interview

Why is it required that Bf3 come out with the rest of these games? That would be over saturation of the market. If they were not making BF3 they would have no reason to neither confirm nor deny its existence, they could just flat out say, No were not making it.

Or maybe DICE did such a good job implementing the new features that people actually don't think it's the end of the world?

DICE wants to try new things, they don't want to release the same kind of games for 20 years ahead. The battlefield formula remained basically unchanged through 1942 to 2142, of course with additions and removal of content but it's still the same basic game in the bottom.

1943 will be a console port but why do you immediately assume it's a bad port. Less players on the server =/= horrible unoptimized piece of **** port with bad controls

                    And, from the same interview;

So 1943 is just an experiment...? That means if we don't buy it they will steer clear of casual WW2 games...

it's an experiment to see how much PC BF gamers can tolerate casual/console titles. who knows what the future holds if we embrace it.

I'd rather say it's an experiment to see how well a smaller scale game would sell.

It is a trap, the people who don't want DICE to keep making the crap console, casual rubbish well into the furture should steer clear of this rubbish or the Battlefield series as we know it may never return, that's my 2 penny's anyway, and am sticking to it aswell.
