Why are Dice so secret?no support!,no patches,No interest in what fans think.

When other games they get updates, news, patches and are happy to release plans.

Well it seem they have left the game just like that Alex!4 years cmon!

I haven't left the game. I'm still playing BF2 and trying to learn the ropes in PR (ohno)

Just because it's unannounced doesn't mean it won't come, or that they aren't working on a sequal. BF2 made huge sales, you really think they'd leave the franchise at that
You must have missed all of the interviews to come out lately and DICE's insistence that "epic games" don't "have to be large" and that 1943 is "just like 1942".

Its obvious they are tying to change the BF series and get away from the larger 64 player games in favor of smaller entry level games.

Re: Battlefield Online Announced in South Korea

Battlefield Online will be a localisation for the Koreans and more fitted to their tastes. It's quite likely that they'll require something like their national ID numbers in order to play so that it's only for the Koreans. I've heard of such system used in some online games as well.

Battlefield series is surely moving away from what it used to be (especially post-BF2), and many turned out to be a disappointment for the fans. Instead of getting the fuss about what kind of thing DICE is releasing in the near future (or no BF3 etc), I am more content with the old games and will more likely to stick with them instead.

Unless if you think huge signs telling you that you killed someone is a must have feature :p

Why this? Wasn't BF2 released in korea?

This is correct. Neowiz does feature foreigner registration but you still need to be in Korea as you need to possess a alien registration card (similar to the Korean national ID).
All Korean online game sites have this feature. Some of the portals (like Neowiz, Netmarble, etc) allow foreign registration with the same restrictions. The stand-a-lone games, like Karma 2, usually don't allow foreign registration at all. The reason its different is because they have to subscribe to an additional database of numbers to verify identities. My guess is this costs money and some companies don't want to incur that cost since most foreigners in Korea don't play video games and the ones that do can probably have a friend make an account for them.

A little further information on Neowiz is that EA bought a big share in them a few years ago. Its why they got FIFA and NBA Street. I'm sure EA pulled the microtransaction model directly from them after seeing its success there. It isn't just neowiz. Every online PC game in Korea operates in the same manner. They're all free to download and free to play with microtransactions. However in Korea most games don't have game altering things you can purchase. They're mostly aesthetic so you can enjoy the game perfectly fine without buying a thing. They have things that might appear to be game altering (in AVA for example you can pay cash to carry a couple extra clips), except in all the months (maybe 6 total spread out over 1.5 years) I've played it I've probably only run out of ammo half a dozen times before I died. The only person I can see this actually benefiting is a sniper who scores himself the ultimate position and can ride it out the entire game.

The most popular FPS games in Asia are things like Counter Strike and only 4-5 maps are popular and played really.
Counter strike isn't that popular in Korea. The most popular is Sudden Strike. As far as I know counter strike is way down by the bottom. Perhaps china and japan are different, but not here.

+20 rep to anyone who can properly and accurately translate the announcement for us (since none of our staff actually speak Korean).
My korean is bad, but I have some korean friends who might like the practice.

Yeh, the guy you are quoting is actually from Hong Kong. I knew him from school. I guess Korea, China and Japan differ greatly in their tastes.

I think it is probably because Korea has a mostly closed system for their websites. Beyond game sites, shopping sites, and other sites all need national IDs to sign up. Because of that Koreans are very tied into the national sites. You will actually find counter strike (with a zombie mod) on one of the portals here and not on a steam/valve site. Same with LotR online, and Hellgate: London. Hellgate london more because the IP was bought/licensed by a Korean company, but I think some of these big games that come here see the benefit in getting established with a portal site which features many games rather than stand alone sites. There is already a huge customer base you can tap into just by showing up on the site.

Now, that's some great insight into how the market is different in Korea.
