Copyright lasts for the lifetime of the author plus 75 years. I'm not sure what that means when a company owns the copyright, but whatever the case may be, it's definitely not out of copyright yet.

It used to be 70 years, but the US government changed it when they realised Disney was about to lose the copyright on Mickey Mouse. It's much longer now.

same rules probably apply. copyright stands until a certain time after the company "dies".

back on topic:

meh. Korea is a huge gaming market. If DICE wants to break into the market by letting someone else hack their game, so be it.

It's a bit unfair but it doesn't bother me too much.

The teams on the servers are going to be unbalanced with all the Koreans wanting to play the Russian side so they can kill US forces.

Heh, you're right.

Don't expect to see this game in the European or American market. I suspect it's a very cut down version of BF2.

The most popular FPS games in Asia are things like Counter Strike and only 4-5 maps are popular and played really.

This could be competition for Counter Strike Online, due for release in the Asian market very soon. Could be a very wise move by EA/DICE/Whoever.

If that were the case they would support mods right?

It really gets me that Dice refuses to respect and support mods which have done more for Battlefield than can be expressed. Yet they hand over the source to some random team in Korea to make a free to play game.

If Dice really wanted to just milk BF2 they would promote the mods already OUT for it as you have a lot of real quality work that would sell more copies of BF2 just on promoting the free mods!!!

Imagin a full push by them to support the mods. Walking through a store and you see the BF2 box "Now shipping with top BF2 mods!" and you turn it over and see littlescreens with FH2, PR, PoE2, Pirates, and OPK. Then going to the EA website you see promotions and pictures detailing the new BF2 pushout with mods and of course the in game banner pushing it as well.

Then on the backend we see a lot of the tech stuff we have been asking for for the last 4+ years and opening up some of the code to us. Then to really break open the gates... they allow mods to be ranked on their system or ditch their ranking system all together (My personal pref).

Instead it is like doing sign language for Stevie Wonder and Dice just gets further and further detached from the BF player base and gamers in general making titles with little interest far away from the BF roots like Bad Co, Heroes, and abomination 1943 which is a total slap in the face with a kick in the nuts to all the die hard 1942 fans that would love a true sequal.

Guys, this will only be available for residents in Korea most likely as a replacement for BFH, that wouldn't work well in that market (according to EA)

And no, BF2 were never that popular in the Korean market.

They don't want to milk BF2... and if they do plan on doing that (more patches after 1.50 maybe?) it will have absolutely nothing to do with this game.

Seems to happening with quite a lot of games that have been a hit in the west, CoH, CSS online and now bf2.

DAMN this isnt even funny enymore how many battlefield games are they going to release ????? its like a bad soap sery wher the end never seems to come to an end. JUST RELEASE BATTLEFIELD 3 it will make more money then all of other bf games you are going to realse toghter !!!!!!
