Re: New Downloadable Content Announced
I dont mean to burst your guys bubbles.. but the DLC for CoD4 was only free on the PC because Nvidia stepped up and sponsored it. With the economic hardships as it is.. I dont know if Nvidia will step up to the plate like that again.Comment

Re: New Downloadable Content Announced
What's your theory on how DLC will be distributed and sold, managed for players who try to join servers with DLC maps in rotation but don't have it, and secured for the PC so it doesn't get seeded after 1 person buys it if it's going to cost money?Comment

Re: New Downloadable Content Announced
i have a feeling that what will happen is that if the DLC is on a server and u dont have it it'll either kick u b4 the game starts or wont let u join at all (kinda like having a different version of cod)......realistically i think they'll try to find a sponsor to make it so that they can try to "win back" the PC audience and they dont have to worry about people seeding out the patch and lose money......but thats just what i think......chances are they'll figure out a way to make u pay for it and not be able to seed it out to others......but what do i know, i just play PC games that "generally" have free content in patches :pComment

Re: New Downloadable Content Announced
This is true, however the earlier step in the situation was that the DLC for COD4 on Consoles was only a pay-to-download because of Microsoft's greed, forcing Activision/IW to charge a fee to have it on XBL. If we can believe IW, they originally wanted it to be free for everyone, but M$ wouldn't allow it. IW/Activision sought out a sponsor (Nvidia) so that PC users could still get it free, but it appeared that someone was footing the bill.
As for the econonics argument, let's flip it around. With the recent economic downturn, PC consumers are less likely to pay extra for something like DLC. CODWW isn't doing as well in terms of online player numbers as COD4, and the precedent for free DLC for PC has already been set by COD4. Add all of that up, and it doesn't look like a good business decision at all if they decided to try to charge PC users for it (not to mention the potential technical/piracy headaches that would be involved).
However they do this, sponsored or not, I believe any DLC they release for PC will be free of charge, same as with COD4.Comment

Re: New Downloadable Content Announced
I had hoped for a DLC that was all about the Zombie mode. You basicly have a seperate game there and I hope they build on it. I can not imagin bying this for just the one Zombie level since I do not play much of the normal multiplayer.Comment
