Re: Battlefield 1943: Pacific Officially Announced

what's the deal with WWII pacific games? i saw another game while i was looking for 1943 details on ign that might steal some of 1943's thunder:

    same video on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DdSgf_5vKjA

i guess the main difference is it's not a fps game but seems like controlling ships and planes seem similar to BF. still it looks pretty cool.

if it was a FPS game i think Dice would have some pretty nasty competition on their hands.

thats the sequel to Battlestations Midway which can be bought online for $5 now. Looks a lot cooler than it plays.

it's a slippery slope. Caita hit the nail on the head. They got it right the first time with bf1942

          multiple specialized classes improved depth
checks and balances in power improved strategy (multiple ways to kill a single item)
Variety of approach based on movement type improved strategy
no f**king uav/scan helped increase the edge-of-your-seat covert ops missions
5 minutes to pick up the game but a lifetime to master
ability to customize class for specialty roles that changed as the battlefield did just makes sense.

lets just hope our feelings are at least heard and considered.

To leave behind what made the BF series one of the greatest games out there, and releasing this crap is beyond me.

There's pretty much no escape from the criticism they're getting. All major gaming websites that have forums have at least one or two topics with criticism. Especially the officially websites.

And Deesies knows what I'm talking about too

It's people like you that really p*** me off! how can you rave about "BF3" when it was NEVER stated by DICE/EA that it even existed or that it would exist!

You simply read a "spoof" article that it was possibly in the making and then made your own assumptions.

Pull your head out of your *** and get over the fact that there is no BF3 and that there may never be!

If you don't like 1943 then don't buy it.... period!

I'm saying this for the last time. No one knows anything about BC2. It is therefore logically impossible to draw any conclusions from it, especially in relation to a game that does not exist.

64 players doesn't make it a traditional BF game. Its still an arcade, console shooter. Not at all like BF2 or 1942.

This game looks like crap to me. I think it would be awesome if they made a new full battlefield game in ww2, but why this? It looks like a crappy mod for BC. They added a few vehicles and new player skins on one map and call it a game? They should make a ww2 game on four theaters, 100+ people, with an awesome menu if they want to get anywhere, this is crap.

That's basically what it's being designed as. They're not expecting anyone to believe this is some big release that will revolutionize the market. It's just a mini-game to hold people over until they release something else.

until they release Bad Company 2, exactly. There should be more posts in the Bad Company 2 announcement thread for pc than this. This is just a mini game.

Exactly. I don't see why this is getting the most attention from PC fans out of the two. The bigger release of the two will be Bad Company 2 for sure. Stop hating on this "mini-game" and get your priorities right.

lol there's absolutely no information about bad company 2. No videos, no real screenshots, no information besides the fact that it's multiplatform. BF1943 has a bunch of information, screen shots, a trailer, gameplay videos... lots more to comment on.

Its been a while since I've posted a comment. People who do know me, will know that, I love aviation, so I think that after Bad Company, it will be VERY interesting to see how they execute the Zeroes and Corsairs.

I think people can't distinguish between a bit of fun and a pile of crap. Three maps, and people think this will replace BF3? Most people are taking this the "pile of crap" way and not giving it a chance. Again, it is a bit of fun, most likely to tide us over until the economy picks up again, by which stage DICE can invest into a successor to BF2.

Bad Company 2 will probably just be a continuation of Bad Company in the long run. Bad Company seems like the "storyline" vehicle for the BF series, so any future BF games featuring a storyline will be a variant of BF:BC.

BF194/2 was, and probably still is the all-out war vehicle, gameplay that everyone enjoys.

There is hope yet for a replacement for BF2.
