Indie Developer Wants to Buy Homeworld IP from THQ

Some had speculated that the Homeworld IP was picked up by Sega when they acquired Relic as part of the THQ liquidation sale this week. It turns out, that's may not really the case. Now, teamPixel, an Indie development studio, is looking to purchase the Homeworld IP while they still can.

To accomplish this, they're looking for some crowd-funding to help them achieve this goal. They have set up the Save Homeworld campaign to try and raise $50,000 in order to help them purchase the IP rights from THQ.

If they manage to pick up the franchise, they promise to push for Homeworld to appear on GoG.com and on Steam. They also promise a mobile "Homeworld Touch" version, and also Homeworld 3.

They're looking for donations through IndieGoGo. They promise that if they are unable to secure the rights to the Homeworld IP, they will issue refunds to everyone who donated, because without the IP they certainly cannot act on the promises they're making, right?

If you are a fan of the Homeworld series and would like to see it live on, be sure to head on over to the Save Homeworld campaign and donate however much you'd like.
