The Old Republic - First Footage and Developer Documentary

The first gameplay footage for The Old Republic MMO was released today. The footage accompanies a video documentary with the game's developers.

The Old Republic is a MMO in development by BioWare and LucasArts. The game will serve as a bit of a sequel to the events found in the first Knights of the Old Republic games set in the Star Wars universe.

It's not monthly fees, it's microtransaction based. Also, turn based worked in KOTOR, so... :awes

Also, the capture that is the preview frame for the video is actually from KOTOR 1, not TOR.

Cool concept, and the SW universe is truly huge, so there's a lot of potential for massive variety in this game.

I'd like to see more vids and screenies as this gets closer to release. I never played the KOTOR games, so I'm not sure what footage in that vid was from KOTOR and what was from TOR. I found some of the graphics in that vid to be a bit disappointing, so hopefully those were from the older games, or were from early in the development stage.

I'm not a MMORPG player, but I do love the SW universe...so if the graphics in TOR are really good, then I might give it a spin. I know that MMO's are more about the gameplay/interaction, but for me, the look of the game would be very important in influencing my buying decision.

At any rate, it's great to see them going forward with more SW games.

Everything before the guy said that they were going to show some new footage is from KOTOR 1. And there was a lot of concept art.

Pretty much all MMORPG's that don't fail completely cost money. Of course, all in the past have failed, but the free ones failed the most.

Anything that's worth anything costs money.
