$50,000 Reward For Help To Find Missing Canadian COD Boy

Yea he is still missing. Now Microsoft Canada is adding $25,000 to the existing $25,000 reward for help to find the missing boy, who ran away from home after his parents took away his Xbox for playing too much Call of Duty. Read On:
The reward for information leading to the whereabouts of a missing Barrie, Ont., teen climbed to $50,000 Friday after Microsoft Canada said it would add $25,000 to the existing pot, according to police.

The company's announcement came in response to the televised plea of 15-year-old Brandon Crisp's father, Steve, who asked the company to do all it could to help police search for his son.

Brandon's parents say the teen fled home after a fight over his excessive gaming on Microsoft's Xbox video game system.

"Microsoft said they would do anything they can to expedite the process to find Brandon," said Sgt. Dave Goodbrand, spokesman for the Barrie police.

Brandon's parents say he was obsessed with playing an online game called Call of Duty 4 on his Xbox and police have been working with Microsoft to track down the Internet addresses of everyone who interacted with the 15-year-old before he disappeared. There are concerns he may have gone to meet someone he met online.

The development came as three Barrie police investigators appeared on a local newscast to take phone-in tips.

Earlier, police wrapped up their sixth day combing a 40-sq.-km area searching for Brandon.

Despite help from about 400 volunteers, who trudged through farmers' fields and woods, police came up with little new to help them find the teen.

The search, which was expected to continue Saturday, is focused around an area where Brandon's bike was found and where a witness saw the teen about three hours after he left home on Oct. 13, said police. That is the only confirmed sighting of the boy.

Police have also recovered Brandon's knapsack, which had a toothbrush and deodorant inside. Read More...

How come this amount of effort is never put into finding other people who have disappeared?

Ok, bash away at this comment if you wish, but I have a question:

Why should I help if the parents are blaming gamers like myself for his disappearance? "Lured" by gamers, I play the "horrible/addicting" game - why should I (being the addicted, predatory person I must be) help?

Well, as angered as you may be, the more humane thing to do is help. Not to mention that if you find and help him, you prove the stereotype wrong.

And with $50,000 think how much games you can buy to support your addiction.

Crunch, I was speaking hypothetically. I would do everything in my power to help, it just seems awkward that many people wanting to help are the very people the parents are condemning.

I know you where. You asked why and I just gave an example. I dont know you very well, but something tells me if someone called you hateful then disappeared, you would still help if you could.

Microsoft's image maybe? Their console played a role to some extent in the disappearance.

Naw, what does Microsoft care about image? Theyre already vilianized every which way short of being the overthrowers of the world.
