I agree with what Alex said.

At this stage it's a leap of faith to say that Operation Flashpoint 2 is going to be an awesome game. They have released some pre-rendered screenshots and that's it. It will probably be delayed again into late 2009, while BF3 hopefully is released in the summer beating OF2 to the punch.

dude just think about it logically, opf 2 has only pre rendered screens and pre rendered trailers, why would they release those? because the opf 2 engine sucks *** they are not proud to release some ingame stuff thats why. Crysis on very high settings looks better then those trailers and screens

... because the engine isn't optimised actually. All companies use CGA shots before release, usually when games are in alpha, even Crysis.

In fact, Crytek went as far as CGA in game videos, hence why you'll find the game never looks as good as it did in the early trailers.

        I'll excuse your ignorance though.

Battlefield bad company didnt have any pre rendered shots nor trailers, and those character modells are better then in crysis.

In-Game Screens. (no CG or pre-rendering)

              Game engine sucks?
              Dirt
              GRID
Yea, those games and this game are extremely ugly especially when your map is 135sq miles.

Either way, I'm talking to the wrong audience. Arcade style rules these forums. The Project Reality community seemed to take it with open arms.

I bet on anything they will not release BF3 till AT LEAST late 2009. They haven't even officiallly announced the game in development, much less ready to release it so early.

By the way, OFP2 has a Spring release date which is said by CM themselves that it is immovable.

Back on topic, the only thing i'm looking forward to in the 1.50 patch is the hacking fixes and the new map. I doubt we'll see some miracle patch.

Gotta agree, OFP2 looks amazing! Been following it for awhile. However i'll reseve judgement on the gameplay until after its released and ive tried it out. Crysis looks amazing too, but the MP is just horrible. So you cant go by looks and effects alone.

I'm sorry, but those screenshots use CGA. The developer usually takes screenshots in game and then optimises them with a photo editor.

Firstly, notice the explosion in the BF:BC. They don't look like that in game, it's been edited.

Secondly, whilst i know OF2 will be a really good looking game, those screenshots are pre-rendered. They are from the game engine but have been optimised to look better.

Anyone ever watch the trailer for Final Fantasy 7?

All they showed were cut scenes, which obviously looked a lot better than the gameplay (that was not shown at all!)...but it was still one of the best games ever.

                        People STILL jumping to conclusions?
The pre-alpha code looked descent to me.

The community manager begs to differ about the screenshots.

Also not to mention a few of them were taken from a presentation.

Just because DICE plays trickery every time around doesn't mean everyone else has to. You can CLEARLY tell the difference between the CG and in-game anyway. Codemasters weren't afraid to make note of it either.

I cannot remember a game that has not had a pre-rendered advert/screens released in the media hype, the screens you posted earlier look honestly like someone has just gone all over then with blur and contrast in PS unlike the last screen you posted here that looks like the DOF is kinda correct, i really doubt you will be able to take exactly the same screenshot when the game comes out and says its exactly the same.

I apologize, I'm just defending against misconceptions that people are having.

@Tasty, that blur your referring to is a post processing effect called Bloom. It' been used in recent games.

All I'm sayin, is countless people thought the screens for GRID were pre-rendered even though Codemasters said it was in-game, it turned out in-game looked just like the screenshots. This game is using an evolved engine from that.

That screenshot above i'm sure uses real in game bloom, but they have used a blur effect in the background and sharpen effect in the foreground. You'd have to be blind to miss that!

Also, they have artificially added anti aliasing in that screenshot. A client end computer could not produce that sort of detail with a £5000 Quaddro graphics editing card :p
