New Battlefield v1.50 Patch Announcment

The Battlefield Portal has released a new announcement today regarding the upcoming v1.50 patch. Here is what they had to say:

There has been a lot of discussions on the Battlefield forums regarding the Battlefield 2 Update 1.50, so this is to let you all know what’s happening.

Update 1.50 is still in development, we have held back on releasing the update as we have become aware of and are taking preventative measures against 3rd party tools which have been severely affecting everyone’s playing experience recently by crashing dedicated servers, clients as well as allowing account spoofing. We hope you understand our decision to delay the release to resolve these issues rather than releasing early with a need to update again.

We are looking to release this update by Winter of this year.

"Winter" gives them a few more months to get things figured out. The AIX 2.0 release has been delayed for months by this and now it's delayed even further...

I'm cancelling my dedicated server and moving to Crysis Wars for entertainment.

BTW - this is listed as "BH" when it should probably be "BF2".

I don't mean to be down on this news. I'm glad that EA is talking to us at all. I'm just frustrated because I've been waiting for a particular thing to happen which keeps getting delayed. As a PC gamer, you think I'd be used to it by now.

Note to self: stop griping and go pwn some nubs.

About time we got an update, but I'd definitely prefer them to release a quality patch rather than rush it.
