    7-Eleven Begins Taking Game Pre-Orders

After a rather successful experiment with the release of Madden NFL 09, 7-Eleven is ready to dive deeper into the video game retail market. Kotaku probed a 7-Eleven representative to obtain a few interesting facts.

    • Over the next few months, the company will track sales and start to take pre-orders on a number of new titles.
    • One out of every two customers owns a gaming system.
    • Nearly 3,200 7-Eleven stores had "considerable sales" during the first week of Madden's release
    • Roughly 25% of the total sales of Madden happened between Midnight and 1AM
    • Starting this month 7-Eleven will start selling seven games with the highest selling potential for the Holiday season
    • Some of these games include: WoW: Wrath of the Lich King, Guitar Hero World Tour, Fallout 3, 007: Quantum of Solace, and Gears of War 2
    • Stores will soon have a point of purchase signs set up for game sales.
    • Games will be available at midnight on the day of release.
This story also ties in heavily with a potential release date for Wrath of the Lich King, as hinted at by a pre-order sales receipt from 7-Eleven. Their system currently has the release date set as November 4 at a cost of $40 (USD) for the expansion. This price and date are identical to the speculative date and price of various online retailers. No official date has been announced yet by Blizzard.
