CoD could do that, but I dont think its what they are known best for. I dont know exactly what you are looking for, but when I think I want a game like that, I look for Battlefield titles. Large maps, lots of vehicles. CoD has always been known (at least from my limited CoD experience) for smaller maps of intense soldier warfar.

I judge each game by its demo. I shall see how it goes

CoDUO, made by Grey Matter, which is now part of Treyarch, had vehicles and larger maps in MP. Some maps were smaller and not made for vehicles. It sounds as though this game will be similar. It's going to have vehicles on some maps and some without and you can disable vehicles as you could in UO. They also had a sp mission in which you had to keep switching to diff guns in a big airplane, guess what's in World at War? Grey Matter made a great game with UO, one that many consider the best CoD still to this day, so many are looking forward to this title. Grey Matter also made RTCW: ET which still has tons of people playing it today. They know how to make a fun, fun mp game that lasts.

I dunno what to say about Sci-fi when it comes to IW. Their work is possibly the best and most thorough I have seen... Maybe they can pull it off, If they stay away from the stereotypical rubbish and bring something new, solid and with the functionality of CoD4 anything could happen.

I think a better idea than just pumping out new cods every 2 years is to maybe support the other games more and maybe have a some DLCs with new maps guns gear and all that stuff. Because tbh all they are asking now is for your money.

^I was thinking the same as Hanley. I was thinking "I wonder how I'm going to afford all these games :/"

because I'm a simple bloke, not made of money. Still, Sci-Fi could be real guns, just limitless locations and new vehicles etc. As long as it's believable and not silly [like hover tanks >.<] then I'll probably look closely into it, like I have with CoD:WW

No one is forcing people to buy EVERY version that comes out. And many users start asking about expansion packs and/or new versions after just a few months of play, even if a game is really good, so it makes sense to not leave too much time in-between versions, or the competition will take their money.

I think there's a big difference between a cash-grab (ie. sports games with only updated rosters) and an actual new version of a game. There are a lot of "ADHD"-type of folks out there who get bored quickly and have the money to spend, so for them it's smart business to always have something new for them.

By separating modern warfare, WWII, (and maybe future war?) COD can appeal to a wide audience. Some might only buy WWII. Some will only buy modern or future. It's almost always better to have more choice than less. And for those of us in North America, 1 game costs about $60...that's only $5/month to save up to buy them. That's very reasonable unless people want to buy and play a large number of different games each year. For those folks, it's more of a choice they have to make as to what they can afford, or to re-prioritize and save up more.

So many naysayers. IW made an outstanding game with CoD4 and I'm inclined to give them the benefit of the doubt...

Besides, you guys don't like Sci-Fi? You're kidding, right? I never understood why some folks kept saying that about 2142 either. It's like saying, "I love chess, but I'm not using those pieces because I just can't stand the way the Pawns look. So, I don't play."

That just doesn't make sense to me because I play a game for the gameplay -- the other stuff is secondary. If the game is fun and enjoyable, it's laserweapons and lightsabers for me or short swords and spears... whatever.

                        But they skipped Vietnam!

Activision puts out a good game, This might actually be good!

Please. Do not repeat EA's mistake. Look at 2142 compared to BF2. 20,000 more people have played BF2 (according to game-monitor) than 2142. And twice as many BF2 players are on as 2142.

You also need to remember that most people considered 2142 to be more of a mod than a separate game. If IW brings some new and innovative game elements to the table, more people will be inclined to play. Most people, I suppose, already had their opinions on 2142 before they ever picked it up and played it (if they did at all).

Remember, decide for yourself when you see the final product.

                              Yep. It's a shame really :|:

I hope CoD6 is just as awesome as the other games in the series :yay:
