AAK's manner in which he went about expressing his feelings won't be accepted here. :)

For those that did not read it, basically if you're outright flaming EA/DICE with lots of cussing, your post will be removed.

Try to keep it civil! I appreciate those who have done that so far. :salute:

What is ridiculous is buying BF and expecting to play UT Just give the crusade a rest.

Unless EA has their own system they plan to implement, I kind of doubt they’ll do that though. That said, utilizing Windows Live for their “Matchmaking” scheme would be a disaster even for a free game, just look at how bad it is for Gears of War PC players, maybe there’s a massive overhaul to Windows Live being worked on?
On the contrary, EA is currently trying new ways to create cash. Like the EADM and dynamic ingame ads in BF214. I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to establish their own currency
It would be a bit of a overkill for just one game, but EA has a huge portfolio of games. I could easily see them moving into this.

One intresting thing though.. Since this will be a free game EA/DICE will have to rely on a solid and bug free (as far as possible) release in order to get people playing.. If no-one plays they will surely not make a dime on BF:Heroes. And I guess they will have to keep adding content to keep the interest of gamers.. to continue to collect money on the game.. So I feel the concept of this free game with adds and "micro payments" is very interesting. EA/DICE are definitely taking a risk which is good for us I'm sure.

People will play no doubt, and the majority of the money will come through advertising.

When EOD was popular the BF Vietnam comes out.
When DC was popular the BF2 comes out.
When GC was popular the BF2142 comes out.
Now PR is popular and the .... will come out

Seriously I hope that BF3 will be game for adults, so I dont have to listen 10y old commander anymore
Theres nowhere else to go dear DICE, we need deeper teamwork, realism and a game that supports that.
Battlefield: Realism - dont sound bad at all

all i have to say is battlefield 3 better be kick a*s and completely bug free for dice to waste in house resources developing a free game.

this makes it look like they have too much free time on their hands witch should be the opposite for such a small development company with 3 major titles on their plate and in development at once.

no offense but they screwed up plenty of coding and modeling when they were developing one game at a time. i have a terrible feeling this "free" game meant to cash in on TF2's success and snag a few of valves players will end up taking much needed resources away from BF3 development.

i think this is a very bad idea, concentrate on what on the plate already rather than going back for seconds without even taking the first "byte".

Obviously it resembles TF2, why the HELL do you think they put up an image of the Heavy on the magazine.. EA/DICE has purchased a licence from Valve to use their "cartoon" gameplay technology, god, stupid people.

hehehe, o really? they purchased a license to use their "carton gameplay"? show us then, give us a link if your going to call people stupid...........................

i didn't know you could copyright a game style.....also the "cartoon style" is called cell shading and valve certainly did not invent it nor do they own it.

also the heavy from TF2 in on the cover of that magazine because this month they are interviewing valve about the new maps and game modes coming in a major update for TF2......

                    thats 3 bullsh!ts, your out.

Interesting concept. Good on them for trying a different dev/income model. Hopefully Dice is big enough now to give adequate dev resources to this, BC and BF3.

To those who think the mods for this will be interesting, I doubt a free game is likely to support mods very much at all..what do you think?

Go play ARMA if you want a real-sim shooter. BF has been and always will be "arcade".

Also....no game nor any mod can provide deeper teamwork.....do I need to repeat that statement???? No mod or game can provide deeper teamwork...EVER. It's all about who you play with. PR didn't invent teamwork...clans did. And any top tier competitive BF clan would whip the snot out of any dedicated PR clan...in PR...because of teamwork.

Battlefield was never meant to be about realism, that wasn't their goal.

It was about creating a good medium between realistic content and fun gameplay.

What your saying is like taking Trackmania Nations and asking to make it more realistic.
