we can respond to the community’s feedback with tweaks and changes and we can make the game YOU want to play.
    No. Just... No.

    No shame these days.

Also, about the micropayment. I just had a chat with my friend the other day, and he was saying how his bud was playing WarRock, and that it was free, but he was paying money for new weapons and upgrades and whatnot. He also said that his bud has paid a pretty nice sum on all that crap. So the word "micro" is deceiving.

I dont even want to know whats going on in the heads of the TF2 developers right now.

    MONSTEREDIT:

Im laughing my as5 off at the kids who are sticking to DICE, because CKCM is surfing this thread. The whole 2nd page of this thread is a big fest of sucking up.

    People these days...

CKCM, you must have the hardest job ever, and Ive seen quite a lot in my very short lifetime.

i personally think tf2 is dogsh*t. If dice really come out with a battlefield "cartoon style" game then that would lower them badly in my books.

i know people are moaning saying its free but id pay to play a good game then play one for free and it being as mentioned above...

OMG what is it with you people?

Don't flame the game already, wait for screenshots or something at least.

Because BF has one of the best gameplay formulas ever made, it promotes teamwork etc etc

And stop criticizing BF2142 people! You don't like it, fine, but to me and many others it's much better than BF2 as an example.

This is actually the most number of people I have seen on one thread. Wewt.

But personally, I hope the game lives up to what it is meant to be.

i can understand what your getting at but the term " cartoon " will just ruin the game.

              just my opinion

                Yeah

TF2 is still awesome imo. Much more teamwork than what you might expect :)

Yes, that's your opinion, not everyone else's. Thus, you shouldn't bash a game or a developer simply because it doesn't entertain your complex mind.

Its quite obvious that they are approaching the matter from a completely wrong angle. The "cartoon" theme is chosen because TF2 worked so well.

In practice, they should take note from CS1.6. Its not the "cartoon" per se that sells. Its the excellent game formula in a small box. Meaning, anyone can play it, and you dont need a Pentagon grade PC. We saw UT3 and Crysis MP go down like Romeo 007.

"Cartoony" should be like a gentleman-like ruse, and excuse. "We know you dont have a great PC, so we made a humorous and fun game so you can play it."

Team Fortress 2 Minimum System Requirements
                      CPU: 1.2 GHz Processor
                      RAM: 256 MB
Graphics Card: DirectX 7 capable graphics card
                      Windows 2000/XP/ME/98
                      Mouse
                      Keyboard
                      Internet Connection
                      CD or DVD rom drive
Which means that you can pretty much run it off an un-upraded Pentium 4 platform you bought back in 2001 (or whatever).

                      But this...

That was my first thought too... sounds like a TF2, BF-Style

And remember, free isn't quite free. According to the article you linked to, the game will be supported by ads and micropayments, ensuring that those who pay the most will have the best weapons. Awesome.

I can't wait to dress up my soldier with a fuzzy pink coat and matching mittens for just $3.95.
Gamers will be able to buy items which customise their appearance in the world, but will not be able to seek an advantage through buying weapons.

They kind of did that already in both BF2 and BF2142. By purchasing the expansion packs you also got access to extra unlock credits and weapons in the core game.

BF2142 was just a bit of a let down. And I don't want to see DICE waste their resources on this silly idea. Really want a good BF3 release!
You know, there is quite a lot of people that think BF2142 is an improvement over BF2.

While I don't like the idea of micro payments for better equipment, I think the idea of free ad-financed games are great.
Hopefully this means that the ingame ads of BF2142 was a resounding failure.

A concern is that people may be more likely to cheat and otherwise misbehave, since they don't have much to lose.

It won't. Valve is actually a GOOD company that makes GOOD games. As much as I love BF2 and I will get BF3, Dice barely delivered with a game you payed for. How the **** does the logic come through that they are going to give more updates for a free game when they were too lazy in a game people PAYED MONEY FOR. Also, this game isn't going to be free. I will bet you any amount of money that they're going to put a cashshop in.

                                Oh yeah heres a quote:

The games has a "cartoon-feel" and has been made simpler to play, with more emphasis on participation and fun than skill and strategy.
Dont make me laugh so hard I bleed out of my rectum, where the hell was there ever an emphasis on strategy in a game like Bf2? Its either circle a spawnpoint in a heli, gaymore spam, nade spam or get a J-10 and the god switch. Honestly, I dunno what they're smoking =P
