Its EA cmon, no matter what the engine is capable of they would never be stupid enough to make it Vista only, Vista is a great OS and all (if you have the right system) but the majority is using XP and it would be stupid for EA to cut their game revenue by making it vista only

I'll see if I can get a copy off my Uncle again, how I got 2142, I bought BF2 on release day but I aint so sure about this one

No info probably leads to some elaborate EA marketing strategy, no doubt if that release date is true which seems weird then we will see stuff soon. Who knows they may have been developing it since BF2, seeing as 2142 was a quick paint job

I would guess the release date would be around autumn'08 (if even in 2008).
I wouldn't preorder now...
First wait for the demo, play it, spend money for hardware upgrades, play demo again, like it, spend more money for hardware upgrades, buy it. ;-)

I'd be more likely to guess Summer 2008 about the same time of say June like BF2 when it came out..right when the students are all out of school. As for Vista and OS-X or higher only.. its a great thing to push people to upgrade and the way EA thinks with a little push from Microsoft and Apple..then why not. Plus if your going to implement the Frostbite DX engine they are talking about you will need at least those operating systems. I see no problem with having to upgrade to play a game..been doing it since Win95 and DX7 and DX8..may as well keep on going than sit here in a rut.

We found out that Microsoft plans to finish up DirectX 11 in late 2008 or early 2009. This means that it will move rather quickly from DirectX 10 and 10.1, but it might take some time for hardware to go the same way.

We still don’t know many things about the new API, but at least we have the rough plan that it is coming. It is clear that 2009 will be the year of DirectX 11, and the way the market works we should see some good DirectX 11 games by 2010.

Im glad to hear that there might be a BF3! I just hope that I is as fun to play as BF2 is, yes I still play. I really dont care if its ranked or not, like BF2 was, but being able to keep track of my stats is a nice feature. I think that my stats should show up on my computer and the game would probably be better if thats the only place that they show up.

I guess that the people in charge of BF3 will decide what it will be like and when it will happen. I only hope that it lets you do all the things, drive a jeep, tank, chopper, or jet just like BF2 did. Thats the one thing that I liked the best about BF2. I will probably get it. Right after its been out long enough that any major bugs have been found and fixed. LOL. . . . . . .Red

stats are fine as long as they are setup like COD4's master server is reporting..that way anyone can put up a server and it be "Ranked" or reporting stats.. like it was with BF2 and 2142 is unacceptable and ends up giving certain server providers the ability to over price over used machines for clans and groups...but in turn will kill mods chances of taking off.

Lawl you never know with these game shops... A game shop in sweden lets you pre-order Diablo 3 since like 4 years back or something. Because they are sure it will come at SOME point. However I dare saying it hasn't even been started on yet.
