It may not have worked for you but it did for plenty of other people. So if it didn't work for you then obviously it's a screw up on your part bud. Maybe the server it's self has something to do with it.

As far as Wisky and his update. Maybe it was the patch. Who knows. All I can say is you don't know everything there is to run and manage a server.

    :salute: Peace

no screw up on my part..its IW's fault of a lack of support...plain and simple!

And as you said..you don't know everything there is to run and manage a server..so no need to suggest I don't.

The only error I got with that file was when I had X-Fire running and tried to play on a modded server. This patch did fix that problem for me.

I'm not perfect no..but I know well enough to say that IW screwed up and when they released "CLIENT" file replacement for a patch common sense right now tells people that when you have to upload the WHOLE directory of CLIENT files to start a server then you replace the same one in both places. They didn't come out and say NOT to update servers. They didn't come out and say what the client files are supported on a server side platform such as Win2K or Linux. Dedicated server files should have been released days before the whole game came out..bottom line IW dropped the ball on support for the community. I custom designed and configured my server, which is now going to require a OS reinstall due to this lack of information with the patch and the directx usage crap that Dedicated server files wouldn't require to run.

Hell you look at the main page for the patch and they STILL haven't added what it should go to and what not... No information on what systems its supported on etc.. lame customer support when asked over their own site contact us as well.

              COD4 = pain in the ***!

Chill dude. Consider how well game runs it is not major problem.
If you want to see some bad game support and rushed releases read EA forums. Activision 100 times better then EA.

COD4 server setup is the same as previous versions.

Most server hosts are running just fine, even with the new patch.

If there's a problem, it's with you, your hardware, or existing applications/software conflicts. I think we're all pretty tired of hearing about it by now. If you want to move on, feel free.

Not everyone is all good to go.. there are others with similar issues depending on the OS and how its setup. If your pretty tired of "reading" about it then feel free to skip right over this thread cause there isn't a need to troll the posts.

I said "most", not "everyone". And again, as you say in your own post, the problem is on your end, due to your particular hardware/OS/apps config and conflict. If you don't already, you should have a thread in the Support section asking for assistance about it, instead of simply complaining over and over again in a news thread. We can more easily skip over issues like this there, instead of in a thread like this where some sort of useful info or comments on the patch itself are expected.

I'm not trying to be mean, I'm really not. But you're just writing the same rant over and over again.

doesn't really matter either way since the lack of support on IW's side is going to kill the community.

Now you're just being bitter and talking out of your a$$.

They've put out 2 patches in 2 weeks to correct critical issues - REAL issues - that the community was having (stats resetting and the lean glitch). Both came out just days after the issue was identified. We've also learned that the 2nd patch contains data that lays the pathway for coming mod/map tools - showing that they've been working on that behind the scenes, too.

Support so far has been very good. The community is thriving with clans, ladders, and leagues popping up everywhere. COD4 is currently the # 3 FPS game in the world in terms of online players - right behind CS and CS:S.

So don't project your problems onto "the community" as a whole. Again, I'm sorry you're having problems with your server, but you're sure not acting like a "30 yr old" as in your profile with comments like these.

The lack of support comes from no Dedicated Server files.. and sure they put out two patches but this is a sign of things to come..more bugs and more issues. In one week two patches that should have been fixed prior ro release even if that meant pushing it back longer.

My age has nothing to do with this, lets also not forget your not a Forum God..so don't tell me how I can and can not post.

Bottom line is the community will suffer without the lack of support in all circles of the game not just a few lean and no lean in game issues..

I've been in contact with their support and its useless, Server issue is fixed that I had earlier but now their own master servers don't seem to be working unless you have a solution to the "No heartbeat" from the server. If so thanks if not then leave me be while I look for solutions.

NvM, Fixed it since I do know what I'm doing with my own server..
