Patch v1.1 Released!

Just backup files in game directory that match the files in the zip incase they screw up your game. I mean its been common practice since way back in the day before auto updaters, when patches use to have a chance of screwing up your game. Well established protocol for well over a decade now almost two, you've all been spoiled by auto updaters.

the file in the zip is only that exe file... I've already replaced it and still the same error. Something has messed something up! and the lack of dedicated server files is enough to already make someone really pissed off.

I've been pissed at this game since finding the server files were over 6gigs and now this... LAME!! :evil::shakehead


anyone care to tell me how in the hell to fix that? I've already added both the dx9 and dx10 dll files that either or were needed.

Too late now, but you probably should have made a copy of the old file before you overwrote it. You could always check the DVD and see if you can copy it from there. Also, are you running X-Fire? I know that in my case, trying to join an unranked server with X-Fire running caused me to get a DirectX error.

I already overwrote the 1.1 patch file with the old one and it still won't start the server. I am running xfire but I'm trying to start the server not join one.

I got a steam update earlier for the game, i gather this is the patch?

did you buy the game via steam? is that the only way for steam auto-update? I added COD4 as my favorite game list on steam and something updated laste nite but didnt bother to check. Just wanna know if steam would provide updates even if i did not buy it from them.

I know this is the patch for the PC and thats all well and good but does anyone know if they are going to do anything to the Xbox 360 version??!!

I have this feeling I will end up uploading the whole directory again to get the server up... anyone care to take a stab at this directx unrecoverable popup error?

what are you talking about??? I just downloaded it and extracted it 4 times again and there is only ONE file.. if you have more than please share cause I'm ready to blow something up.

I've got iw3mp.exe, iw3mp.map and iw3mp.pdb in the zip, I just backed up the original exe and copied the other 3 files into game directory. All runs fine, still backing profiles and still haven't tried exporting profiles to my desktop yet, just no time in the evenings.

bah I saw the word patch released and got excited, but this isnt too exciting? stats fix? I was hoping for that dumb directx crashing issue grrr

either way with the one that has the single file or the 3 files nothing will work anymore... I get a stupid directx error popup when im trying to run a server not play the game on it.

Is this a patch that needs to be applied to the server or is it just a client-side update?

I haven't updated my servers yet, guess I just assumed it was only for clients.

According to my host: http://www.wolfservers.com/portal/showthread.php?t=3052 it's an optional client-side update.

As for fixing, I really don't have any good suggestions, sorry.

If game makers like IW would have released some sort of dedicated server setup files then this would be avoidable and stand alone from the client problems anyway. I'm done with this ****, as it has pissed me off to no ends..be on the look out for my game to be sold for those that might not have it.
