Re: Desert Conflict v0.16 Released
Anyone know why the French and German communities seemed to evaporate overnight? I probably should have brought this up sooner but I did notice that those communities disappeared when the .15 release came out. I used to play on their servers as they had some really skilled players...namely, a clan that went by the name of #we-love. They had some of the best paradropping assault skills I've seen to date....really fun to play against them on Inshallah Valley. The French dudes had a server that featured many Day 2 maps or maps that focused on helos without jets. They always had good squad play and rules even if they were a bit strict.
any ideas on where those folks went and why?Comment

Quake Wars Demo is out!
Could this have something to do with the few players?Comment

Re: Desert Conflict v0.16 Released
You and Jaws have done nothing but harass us in the the last month, here and in our forums. The bottom line is this, we're still here, we still support our MOD, and will continue to do so. If you're here to enjoy it, FINE, if not, then good luck on whatever game you play.Comment

Re: Desert Conflict v0.16 Released
I must disagree with ya Catia, I think Jaws voices his opinions and tries to be constructive.
That's all good and fine, but if you really wanted to support the mod then you wouldn't keep haunting our updates and throwing stuff in our faces. You kept on and on about the last release taking so long and now you're going on and on about player counts. When I posted that about the player counts it was quite accurate. Until this last patch I've been playing on CDU at least 3-4 nights a week with high player counts. Anyone that plays there can verify that. But, like I said. If you're really trying to support the mod then how do you see constantly saying "oh here's a low player count".... " oh here's another" . Just pointing out flaws and downsides isn't constructive. Do you honestly think that helps or do you think that might turn people away? We both know the answer, it's just a matter of who will be honest about it...Hey, lets get something straight here... I ran a server with your MOD on it for months! I supported it longer than I should have and even played in a tourney at CAL with it and enjoyed it. I'm sorry the damn truth hurts but the numbers speak for themselves. I'm just bringing up what you saidComment

Re: Desert Conflict v0.16 Released
Huh? Show me in this thread where I haven't supported you 100%? Christ almighty, I am making and releasing maps for the single player mod for ya'll. How is that not supporting you? Show me in any thread that is associated with your .16 release where I haven't been supportive in public both here and in your forums.

This feels like the old days...coming home on Friday night and being greeted by cold beer and a new version of DC!
:shock::shock::shock:
Holy ****balls!!!!! These are some of the fastest torrent speeds I've ever seen!!!
Well done!!!!!
Oh yeah...Dekoth, you OWN!!!!!!

Yes, it would be nice to have nothing but patches but when other areas of the mod is affected, for example, the maps, it's more reliable to just provide a full new version.
In the future, I bet you'll see more patches rather than full clients.
But hey, this is bleeding edge stuff and you are part of it...be happy about that.
=====================Originally posted by |D|-JawsI love that idea Harry.
I'm a Lost Village junkie. I understand what CDU is trying to do with their server by placing the Coalition flag on the Opposition side at Factory but for me, it removes the challenge of the map. I love a good challenge and that's why I have never been a fan of mirror balancing. In the old days, people had to work together as Coalition to get a foothold on the Opposition side, you had to have good pilots in the helos that knew how to fly the flanks and use the mountains as cover...just skirting the out of bounds combat area. when the mod first came out, I recall seeing alot of the old faces from the DC days and we all knew what to do when it came to LV and that brought back the great memories of playing DC.
As for jump height, I think it's perfect now. I think it's right where it needs to be in order to get the DC feel while gaining a comfortable compromise with the BF2 game engine physics.

So this isn't evidence that I'm supporting you and it's somehow evidence that I'm harassing you? Yes, I did come out on your forums...not here, and say some things that were on my mind and still are. I think that we have a very fragile community of fair weather friends and I can't explain it. That's why my last post here was asking what happened to the Euro community.
But hey, if you don't want me to work with the SP folks then say it right here right now. I thought by involving another niche community in DCON it would translate into additional online players. So if I'm not welcome to show my support in a way that I feel I can....then just say it right here.Comment

Re: Desert Conflict v0.16 Released
One last thing, I feel like the parent of a missing child when it comes to DCON. I get that sick feeling of having no answers as to why people aren't playing the mod. It's completely frustrating to have no answers because it doesn't give you any idea as to how to fix anything. It doesn't give the parent any clues as to how to find their child and you don't know if the child is alive or dead....but I keep looking for answers.Comment

Re: Desert Conflict v0.16 Released
Agreed. Plus he makes some quality maps. :)
sava700, did I not send you a PM about this around 2 or 3 days ago? How you are always constanttly reminding everyone of playercounts and always trying to be negative lately? Almost like you want to see DCon fail and you will take every opportunity to remind other players about past mistakes and current bad points. I'm obviously not the only one who thinks so because others have brought it up here. Anyway seems you didn't get the message...
Imagine you could hardly pull players into your server (I'm not saying you can't. Just speaking hypothetically..) How about we found every post relating to your servers and contantly reminded everyone of it's zero player counts and mistakes that you've made in running it. Then when you accuse us of harassing you our reply would be "We tried to support your server and used to play in it as often as we could in order to help make it popular. But now the server has hardly any players. The truth hurts but numbers speak for themselves. You screwed up." Then follow it up like this at every possible opportunity, usually multiple times in the same thread:
Server: TeamDissidents... Time: 17:34 GMT. Players - 0/50
Also I took a peak over at the CAL forums not so long ago. While you claim to have been supportive here, your comments there were somewhat less than supportive. Perhaps I may have been confused as I was seeing a different nickname over there. Yet if it was you, seems very two-faced to me. I apologise completely if the person ove ron the CAL forums was not you.
I'm not saying we aren't grateful for the support you gave with hosting a server and playing the mod. But when you constantly remind everyone of your ability to look at player counts and post them on a forum, it cancels out the support you gave earlier. There's simply no need to go out of your way to bring this mod down all the time.Comment

Re: Desert Conflict v0.16 Released
I normally don't do this because my clan mates are completely able to defend their own statements but I would like to provide some clarity.
sava aka buttman, is in my clan. He is his own man and has his own opinions and I respect him for such. We do not always see eye to eye. Our clan motto, the family that fights together stays together. We have had many knock down drag out fights in our clan over the years. sava is a mature individual and a good gamer. He went out and built a kick *** server and got it co-located in a prime location with the explicit hope of having multiple games/mods run on it. DCON was one of those highly anticipated mods. We enjoyed many nights of playing DCON during CAL competition and we had some very fun pubs on our server. We had alot of CAL players/ex DC players populate our server....and then it(player count) dropped off across the board without explanation.
I can't imagine how frustrating this has become for you but at least acknowledge the frustration from simple fans that only wanted to play and support the mod. With more DC converted maps, hopefully player counts will rise.
IMO, sava is in his own way, raising the red flag that something is amiss...and because you guys are the only people around to communicate with, you are bearing the brunt of that frustration.
sava made his point and I have since asked him as a friend to let it go for now.Comment
