Re: Forgotten Hope 2 Mod Update

like lobo said, we'll see when theyre released. in the meantime, making arbitrary prerequisites for realism seems wrong to me.

take the shotgun with crosshairs example. does it add or take away from realism? i say having them could add to realism in certain aspects. of course in real life you dont have them, but you also have other things to assist your aim. in real life you can feel where you're pointing. when you move it, it has weight and the feel of that can help you aim. you just dont get that in a game/sim. so, having a loose crosshair could make the player's overall aiming ability more accurate statistically.

for planes... do you want to fly for 1/2 hour or hours to reach a target? of course not. its a game right? games must take certain liberties to make them enjoyable and not just a complete sim. how different mods approach these issues are judgement calls on their part. so, saying "if it has x,y and z then its not real," isnt valid imo :)

I was responding to a question from WW2 freak, that is, "will there be arcadey type of gameplay in FH2"?
My answer is an empathic yes, there will be arcadey type of gameplay because crosshairs will still be used!
The recent ingame videos they have released show no crosshairs and only ironsights used . GREAT leave it that way. But no, everything was turned off for the video, so we were informed.

I didn't mention anything about realism, nada. It was Cheese who brought up that topic. I'm not interested in that discussion. The realism thread has been done to death on the FH forums.

I'm not bashing anyone or the mod team.
I'm just putting my 2 cents worth toward this thread since the question was asked.

Someone convince me crosshairs aren't arcadey.

Re: Forgotten Hope 2 Mod Update

          I will do gladly

Crosshair in FPS's is the abstraction of the complex neuronological processes, so your mind knows where your arms are pointing, obviously not so acurate like aiming with the ironsight of your weapon, but not a pure guessing like in games without crosshair.

To steal information to players is something realism mods usually do and imho is a mistake. In real life you have all your senses to get that information and is a tricky business to keep that information with some reasonable systems.

Yes, in real life you have no flashy crosses in front of your eyes, but your brain has clue. So both, keep crosshair or remove crosshair, are unreal, and we choose to keep it, anyways ironsights are the only way to shoot with acuracy, so your feeling of realism will not suffer, believe me.

I think you'll find it was ww2freak actually:

I only replied to his post. Just to clear that up :)

Yes i agree in real life you have a pretty good judgment of where your gun is pointing but nothing to the extent of having an exact crosshair placed in front of you. But fair enough you have made up your minds and i respect that even if i do not agree with it

Re: Forgotten Hope 2 Mod Update

Sure, and that's why is important to design a good crosshair, a crosshair with small arms and no central point gives a general idea but acurate aiming is just posible using the ironsight, in our mod

Thank you very much. I was tester for the POE2 team for some itme, and I know how much work goes into full conversion mods such as this. Be patient, it will be released once they feel that it will be good enough for your enjoyment. Until then, sit tight and play some karkand.

I consider this a very acardey feature.
ArmA has crosshairs and its a combat simulator. Meaning VERY realistic. So I don't understand how you could think that way.
