I waiting for the Sir video starring the turbo-DPV!

Keep in mind that the devs want our input on RC...we are beta testers. I hope to have more time this weekend to help them out...

                    Re: Rising Conflicts v0.0913 Released

I have to agree that RC is a bit of a let down. However, I've yet to see another first release mod that's any better.

For the amount of content RC delivered in the first release, I think it's pretty good.

There's going to be quite a bit of bug reports over the next several days though. But hey... it's RC's first release. Any old time DC fans will remember the ****ty releases DC had prior to .4, so cut RC some slack.

That being said... I hope we don't have to wait another 15 months for the next release. That's just way too long for Beta releases. Better fix up some bugs, add a few bits here and there and do another beta quickly (a few months) before the fan base just abandons the mod altogether.

                        Re: Rising Conflicts v0.0913 Released

Its not a let down at all, its a beta version. Meaning there is better things to come...this is just a preview.

Many of these kids complaining are ones that never played the original battlefields, or they were the 1s who came late in the scene and had DC 7.0, or BFV with its latest patch.

I have expiremented with the BF Editor, I sure as hell can't pull of the work they did - harder then you think it is...

Stop complaining, you cry because you want it so much - and then when they give you a small taste of it with the beta you cry. Go figure, thats about all you do on this forum - "EA sucks" ring a bell?

                          Re: Rising Conflicts v0.0913 Released

Thanks for your understanding guys, getting everything added and working right takes a lot of time and effort, to us devs it is a hobby, and we have real full time jobs and families to look after as well, but we make the mods because we enjoy bringing something new to a game.

Obviously, this build is not at all polished and the effort has been put on getting the stuff ingame and stable before the long task of making everything nice. With your help we hope to shape the mod into something you'll all enjoy.

The full release of campaign 1 will contain 3 complete armies with all their own handweapons and vehicles. The beta is just a way of letting the community help us sculpt the direction the mod should take.

We appreciate all the constructive feedback that we get, so don't forget to send some recommendations, ideas or bug reports to us via the Afore mentioned ticketing system

                          Thanks for your patience

                              Re: Rising Conflicts v0.0913 Released

Let me preface this by saying that I appreciate the RC team releasing something for the public to play with. Unlike most people, I think it's better they did this rather than withhold it from the public until it was at its most polished, final state (which, in all likelyhood, would have delayed this mod until the release of Battlefield 3 or something). Getting continual feedback and gradually improving the mod is the right strategy, in my opinion.

That said, I can't say that I'm too impressed with this mod. It just seems like everything was released in its rawest form without any attempt to polish it. It didn't make a very good first impression on me when I spawned as MEC on Gulf of Oman to find the Frogfoot sitting on a floating platform on the MEC runway, barely accessible to our team (I found that it is possible to get up there, but you need to drive a jeep to it, jump up on the jeep, and jump onto the platform). Surely a tester would have noticed a huge floating platform in the middle of the MEC base?

There are plenty of other examples like this. I shot and killed infantry, and the ragdoll jumped up about 15 ft. Same with the exploded chassis of vehicles- once blown up, some vehicle chassis bounce around like a weightless mexican jumping bean. The vehicles will catch fire even though they have half health and are perfectly drivable.

There seem to be some balance issues, as well. The APC's can be very dominant against most anything except for planes and AT infantry. I found it to be a better AA vehicle than the designated AA vehicles. Conversely, in my limited time with them, I found the AA vehicles to be fairly ineffective, however, I'll reserve final judgement until I can use them more.

It's not all bad. Your mod excels in the infantry aspect. I don't know what you did to the accuracy of the small arms, but it feels better than any mod currently out there. I feel like my bullets are actually hitting what I'm aiming at. I like the increased damage, and I like the fact that some sniper rifles are accurate and kill in one shot. I'm not a sniper, but I've always felt that sniper rifles were underpowered.

I realize that games, and especially mods, are released with bugs all of the time, and I think I have a fairly high threshold for playing through the bugs, as long as the game is fun and the bugs don't detract from the overall experience. However, in this case, the bugs are distracting and they do interfere with the fun factor of the game. I don't find it fun when I can't aim with the MEC assault rifle because the ironsights are too small (I think you should adopt the method of putting a sprite in front of the sight, like BF2 and a few other mods do). I have a hard time being engrossed in the atmosphere when I see a Frogfoot sitting on a floating platform.

If this seems harsh (I hope not, I tried to word it as tactfully as I could), it's only because I enjoy the offerings of the mod scene and I think this mod has the potential to be much better. I look forward to your next release.

They probably do but i think those boots wore out a while ago. I've got new boots now and I'm currently just taking baby steps with those.
