The only thing I hate about arty is the fact that there is no such thing as "cover." You have to get out of the blast radius altogether, because steel and concrete do nothing to protect you from the ultimate power that is arty.
I've been running down the stairs in the TV station on Sharqi and gotten blown to hell by arty. Nothing worse than a lame commander spamming arty on the TV station, and dying while in the center of the building.

Trees protect from arty 100% and arty doesn't strike twice at the same spot.

Nice tip on the same spot thing.... I never thought about that. (runs for cover under friends corpse)

Artillery doesn't ruin gameplay, its the commanders using it that do. Or maybe the lack of communication between commanders and squadleaders. I'm sure that we only experiece this on public servers because everyone seems to be a lone wolf. I agree that the frequency of artillery strikes can be a bit trying to the nerves but, you shouldn't expect the game to be easy.

You've gotta be major noobsauce to destroy the arty first. Destroy the scan/UAV, which cripples their ability to fire it even remotely effectively AND screws their team over.

You can drop artillery on a flag under attack ya know. Then the few players left in the area can pick up the pieces and retake the flag.

That and a LOT of points aren't very vulnerable to artillery in the first place, due to overhangs, buildings, and things like that. And it doesn't discourage defensive play, it discourages CAMPING. The difference is that real defensive play involves intercepting squads and wiping them out BEFORE they get in range to insta-cap your flag. If anything, artillery makes that easier because you can pin them down while artillery comes crashing in on their heads.

Bull. Drop arty on rooftop snipers some time, they'll almost always live if they hide in the gap between an air vent and a wall/ledge. Narrow alleyways and the like are VERY, VERY effective for hiding from artillery.

i dont like arty i think there is too much action for a little area so i would have liked to see some cannons placed around the map instead(only firing one shell at a time .)

Arty can spoil a bloody good battle if it was 50/50 but it just rain rape:p

Arty only bugs me for two reasons.

                    1. Guaranteed, 90% of the time, it's the first thing to kill me when I join a server, usually within 10 seconds of my first spawn.

                    2. It absolutely ruins good firefights between both teams as both commanders usually drop it in the same place because of the amount from both sides concentrated in that area.

Other than that, it's not that big of a problem.

I guess this wouldn't be a very good thread to mention I managed an unbelievable 18 person arty strike the other night, eh?

Our team was down 10 tickets to 20. I fired off what I knew would be my last shot of the round and... whoa! We won?? WTF? WOOT!

I think that guns spoil it as well, what we need are some sunloungers down by the water on Sharqi and everyone should just chill there, enough with all the fighting...
