My version optimses shaders only when video settings are changed, I delete the cache or a patch is installed, not when switching between night and day maps....

Leviathan I've never seen and so never played - I didn't even realise it was a night map!

I think a lot of people don't like having to swap between NVG on and off (in the well-lit areas under street-lights etc), and since the shaders have to be reoptimised every time you load a night map it takes ages to actually get into the game and I think a lot of people lose patience. Plus I know a couple of people who claim that they lag a lot on SF, and even more so on the night maps, and get annoyed when the battery on their NVG goes flat...

What??? Never played Leviathan??? CRIKEY! That's my favourite SF map! I love the submarine hanger! I urge you to at least create a multiplayer LAN game for yourself and pick it so you can run around in it on your own and get a look.

NVG really isn't that hard, all you have to do is assign it to a close and handy quick button so you can flick regularly. It's only 1 vision mode to worry about. Anyone who complains about that should try playing Predator in AvP2 with 3 vision modes! Now that is a challenge! Also the Marines in AvP2 had NVG and the battery ran out a hell of a lot quicker than it does in SF but then again they had a shoulder lamp for backup. I guess it would be cool if we had torches strapped to our guns to rely on whilst the NVG's recharged.

As for having to reoptimize the shaders I’ve got to say that only happens to me if I change the video settings or when an update patch is installed. But after that it remembers. And for me night maps don’t lag or suffer with drops in frame rate compared to that of day maps either. Like I’ve said Iron Gator is the only map that lags for me. FPS in the 20's.

I haven't really played any night maps only one is devils pearch which I really liked, Sniping especially.

I don't have any lagging issues at all - day map, night map, Iron Gator, none of them... And I don't have a problem with the NVG... I'm not even all that bothered about my system's fondness for optimising shaders (why am I the only one??), it's just a little frustrating to have to wait so long to get into the round.

And it's not from choice I've never played Leviathan. I've heard it's good, I've just never found a server playing it that had any free slots, and it's never come up in the map rotation when I've been on a SF server. Pity. I really like Night Flight and it'd be good to try another night map. I don't like Devil's Perch, but that's the map I don't like, not the night-time setting.

I wanna try Leviathan! Is now a good time for my five-year-old "toys out the high chair" impression?? Lol

I like all the night maps EXCEPT night-flight. God DAMNIT I hate that map. USED to like it, at first, but grew to hate it VERY quickly

I too like the night maps.

But it's like every game I've ever played - the community screams for them, but most of the guys never like them once they come out.

This may not belong in this forum but I can't enter any night map! I get stuck on 15% and SF closes down... I dont know what to do! Help anyone? Please?
This is only happening on night maps.

Did that last patch make a difference to the terrain at night? I still have not seen any servers with night maps since they "fixed" the TOW missile crash thing.

I played ONE round with night vision....that's all it took. The round lasted more the 30 minutes. I was going nuts by the end of the round staring at that green screen!
