im lookin to get like a 600 dollars or less and then spend liek 500-900 to upgrade it....cause i knwo if i buy like a dell xps desktop i would get a good machine but if i got a cheap one i could deifnatley get alot better machine for cheaper

This is what is says for the emachines.......its intigrated so i wouldnt be able to upgrade

Go with Falcon Northwest, and their Talon series. I don't think anyone half a brain would doubt the quality and craftsmanship of Falcon. On top of that, the Talon is a very sleek looking PC (with some power); and it won't break your bank.

Although. You would have to wait for them to construct and overclock it for you.

...if you just want to pick up a PC in stores; I suggest either "Dell, Sony, or HP/Compaq". Each have their faults. Sony used to have a very bad rap, yet, they are extremely good PC's now... I suggest SONY over them all, but either one of those brand of PC's will work if you just plan on upgrading.

It's always cheaper to build yourself though. You could get a "High End" system for 1,500. If you purchase it though (From anyone else but Falcon; the Talons are very good Mid-Ranged PC's) you're running the risk of paying 1'500 for a "Par" system.

It's just the nature of the beast.

Edit: Dell isn't so hot for upgrading beyound RAM and the GPU. They are true arse's with their construction if you're not opting for their XPS line (Which I assume will be phased out in favor of Alienware's brand name).

The best computer brand is the ones i build. Sounds funny buts its true. Start building PC's for awhile and see for yourself. Your own built PC will be cheaper and better.

Laptops!!!! Not Desktops

Well thanks for being unspecific and wasting everyoine's time giving you advice.

Laptops are a completely different ballgame, but in most cases, RAM, HDDs, and most of the time CPUs can be upgraded on laptops, regardless of brand. But really, by the time it comes around to do this the laptop is not worth upgrading anyway.

Forget about upgrading the graphics on laptops, only the real high end ones will allow you to do this. Best advice is make sure you have something with at least a 6 as the second number in the graphics chipset (i.e. 9600, 6600) from the get-go, if the machine has a 6100 in it, your gaming experience is going to suck and never get better on your laptop. If you want a gaming laptop, concentrate on getting one with the highest performing graphics chipset possible, everything else is not as important as its the ONE thing that will make your machine any good for gaming.

Build your own!!!!!!!!!!!!! Get your parents in front of your current computer. Go to this forum, this topic that you started and show them the responses you have gotten from all of us strangers. The overwhelming majority of us are saying BUILD YOUR OWN SYSTEM!!!!!! Why??? Because if you purchase pre-made from a brand name you get a medium level comp for 1500$. If you purchase parts through newegg.com and build your own comp completely tailored towards your own wants and interests you get a high end comp that you can keep upgrading over the next few years. You also gain knowledge on how the comp works etc etc. If your gonna make an investment over 1500$ for anything in life, you should try to know as much as you can about what your purchasing. With the internet brimming with info you can utilize it and get every bit of info you need to build your comp, from what to buy, whats compatible, how to install and how to use, lol. Good luck in choosing but I really think you should try to get the best bang for your buck, build it.

No. If you want my opinion on an Alienware machine in your budget, go for the M5500, with the base Pentium M CPU (not celeron) and good X1600 graphics chip, this will set you back $1450. Or the M5700 with a Geforce 6800, although with a Pentium M upgrade it comes in slightly higher than $1550. Dont worry about the hard drive size, if you run out of space, just get an external hard drive later on, these are real cheap now. The M5500 has upgradeable graphics.

I work in P.C retail as a technician in the uk so i don't know if my advise would be of any use to you but for the love of God stay away from emachine, packard bell and philips p.c's. The most reliable tend to be H.P and Sony.

The best option would be to either build one yourself or get one custom built.

I was just joking about Packard Bell, they went out of business few years back.
