Only the default (TGN Light) theme for now. Dark them is also coming back soon. Then CSN. Then Wrestlin' Nation. A lot of WIP stuff right now. There are a couple of things still not working either. Sorry.
give the vanilla assault class the gappling hook from SF.
Whoah no offense but bad idea, that would seriously overpower the assault kit.
As for the flashbang, it can be useful if you use it correctly. say you need to assault that warehouse on karkand (The one with the vodnik that sits in front) spam flashbangs and while the enemy is blind, rush them. Sure it takes teamwork like suppression fire and you'll probably need 2 or 3 assault kits to fill place but it could work.
Umm yeah, its useful.....
as for the stock guns side issue that's coming up, I actually find the M4 (marine's spec op default gun) better than either the g36c or the SCAR-L and I usually use it over either of them.
Lol well ok, to each his own I guess. Although the reason that 90% of spec ops guys use the g36C is NOT that its an unlock, its because its better overall.
They dont use unlocks when they play on pubs either and they still own
That's them. They are they, and I am I. I will play the way I want to play, they can play the way they want to play.
I've spent over $100 on Battlefield 2, buying both the original, Special Forces, and Euro Forces, so I'm not going to restrict myself from using better weapons just because it's what the top players do.
I'm never going to be a great player anyways, so what's the use?
I'm playing this game to have fun, not to be the best there ever was.
It doesn't really take as much skill as it does luck, though.
The weapons that aren't unlocks are generally less accurate and powerful than the unlocks, therefore making it harder to kill the other person not due to skill, but due to less powerful weapons.
I don't see how that takes skill away. You still die in the same amount of shots... and everything around you is still just as ly.
You both have true points. By using worse weps you can improve yourself, but you can improve yourself just using better guns anyways lol.
And by the way I have used a G3 and I really don't like that gun, I mean its nice, but il take a noob tube AND a rifle over the G3 any day...
How is it that the unlocks need buffing but the defaults don't? That plays into the "unlocks must be better than stock weapons" mindset. As for how to improve the assault class, I think an accuracy buff across the board would help the class. Speaking as an avid assault player, I could care less about the grenade launcher, as I do fine with it as is; what'd I really like to see is some better long-range accuracy for the assault rifles.
Tell me have you ever seen any of the 20ID guys using unlocks .....
Nope they dont use them becuase they arent allowed in matches and they are currently the best 8v8 and 12v12 battlefield2 team in the world
Ummm...didn't Team HOT just win both 8v8 and 12v12 CAL-M divisions? Your point stands, HOT doesn't use them either, but give some respect where its due.
Edit: Chubz hit the nail on the head earlier when he said "I'm playing this game to have fun, not to be the best there ever was." Most people (and I mean probably 99.5% of the playing population) just play BF2 for fun, and the unlocks are fun to play with. I'm sure the competitive players get all warm and fuzzy for pwning without using them, but the other 99.5% really don't give a rats ass what gives CAL players a woody.
The bottom line: Whatever floats your boat and makes you have fun.
They dont use unlocks when they play on pubs either and they still own
They don't use them on pubs because time spent practicing with unlocks is time wasted not practicing with the weapons they'll be using in competition. Or because they're more used to the non-unlocks.
Notice how there is nothing here that says they wouldn't be better if they played with unlocks too. But being one of the top dogs in a realm of play where you can't use unlocks kind of changes all that.
Beethoven wrote his finest symphony while deaf. That doesn't mean it was his finest symphony because he was deaf: He might have written an even better one if he wasn't. He was just that good.
Rifles? You mean rifle, the G36E rocks but the L85 has the worst damage and second-worst recoil of any of the ARs. Its full-auto performance is terrible. The only thing it's good for is mid-range sniping because of the scope.
The G3 is probably the best close-range gun next to the shotguns, and flashbangs are also incredibly useful (disregarding the F2000's mediocrity).
The G3 does damage faster than any other automatic, including the SAW/Type 95. It's a murder machine. Please, figure out how to use it. And the MG36 sucks.
No. Just.... no. You trade in a small efficiency drop for FLASHBANGS, which are the most tactically-useful things next to the defibrilators. The purpose of unlocking the F2000 is not for the F2000, it's for the flashbangs. Please, figure out how to use them.
Please, figure out how to read things in context.
I never said I was unable to use either of those weapons effectively; I was referring to the original premise of this thread... the overall effectiveness of the kit in general.
My point was (and is), when you have other kits with far more accurate weapons in addition to having useful tools (such as unlimited ammo/health packs) that not only aid them in combat, but garner them team points as well, where is the incentive to play the assault kit?
Now it's obvious I'm talking about "Joe Q. Pubber", not league (or even scrims for that matter) play.
Seriously, where is the incentive to play the assault kit when I can play medic and have a far more accurate gun and heal back any damage I receive?
Ok you say what about the body armor?
Again, why not just play support, same armor, unlimited ammo, better long range accuracy and a 100 round magazine to boot.
Look I'm not saying the assault class is worthless nor am I saying the g3 is a p.o.s. because it's not.
There is just no real incentive for "pub warriors" to play this class because it really does not bring anything to the table that makes it stand out as the dominate infantry machine that it's supposed to be.
There are different weapons and it allows one to find one that helps you play better.
I personally prefer the AK47 or AK-101 assault weapon over the FN200 and the G3. The G3 and I do not just get on. We are simply too different. The gight picture irritates me, the 20 round mag buggs me and the sound is pathetic. The AK's rock.
I like the M4 as well, over the G36C. However I use the PKM over the SAW, but prefer the PRK-74 when I'm MEC.
I like the G36E more than the SA-80, but I prefer Ak 101 as medic.
I like the original pump 12 guage over the Jackhammer.
But I prefer the L96A1 over the semi auto rifles.
I've got friends who play totally different to me. They use other weapons.
The unlocks simply help you find something you can use best.
Long story short, I think we're all agreeing that the assualt class could use some TLC.
I'm thinking the best general tweak is just upping their mobility, thus making it a "best of both worlds" kit. With the weapons and gear they have now, it's the up close and personal fighting that they do well. If they could get up close and personal faster... well, it would help.
It's also the kind of change that would be very easy to implement. Maybe if folks made some noise about it, it might just make it in.
Hehe, the irony is people don't make noise about ideas they like, but will spend hours complaining about stuff they don't.
