The J10 is indestructible no matter what plane you are in. No plane in the game can touch it, except maybe the Eurofighter.

The F35 can easily beat Migs and F18s and all the bombers if you know what you are doing. Just dont play Chinese airmaps like Wake Island till they fix it thats all.

              Re: Jet pilots

If you don't fly don't comment, really, you have no clue.

The problem is worse than ever with the unbalance of the planes in terms of plane vs. plane.

Not only do some planes handle better (this has always been the case), but after 1.22 EA somehow made the game were missle locks are depedant on the plane you are shooting at.

The real problem now is the missle locking varying between planes. Here is a break down.

The worst plane by far is the F-35. Ironically, in real life this would probably be the hardest plane to lock/fire missles at, but in the game it's a freaking missle magnet. Not only do missle hit this thing 95% of the time, but flares are often worthless to. What's worse is occasionally 1 missle will take it down with full health. It's really a flying coffin.

F-18 is probably the 2nd worst. A bit better than the f-35, where it can occasionally dodge missles without flares. Flares generally work on the f-18, but either way, most missles when you attempt to dodge them, hit you.

F-15, SU-34, and the SU-30 (maybe a bit better) are about the same. Generally, if you have flares, and roll out of the missles during flares, the missles with miss you. Likewise, if you catch the missles are fired at an odd angle they will usually miss you.

Mig-29, Eurofighter. These two can generally dodge missles if they are fired at you at an odd angle. If it's dead on you, sometimes it will randomly miss, but not usually. The eurofighter if you do a tight barrel roll will avoid the missles. Flares mostly work with there two.

J-10. This thing has some type of missle shield. Fire missles at an opponent in the j-10 when it's flying straight, and you'll be lucky if one hits even if the opponent DOES NOT use flares. When I'm in the j-10 I feel bad for the other thing. Not only does it dominate handling, but the missle shield makes it almost invincible with the expetion of the ESSEX.

The real issue at this point is not plane handling. It's variation between how some planes can dodge missles with their missle shields.

Excluding the J10, there are no missile shields. There are tricks to be done to make sure you have a high percentage hit rate on opposing aircraft.

You say the F35 is the worst plane, but that is such a bad and probably just an ignorant statement. F35 is very good competitor to Migs and everything else(except J10). Like I said, there are easy tricks to learn to get your missiles to hit Su34 and Migs almost every time.

The flares do work if you know how to use them, for all planes. Only thing that goes through them once in a while is ground AA.

                  Re: Jet pilots

The trick is to go straight and slightly up, hit the flares once you are already set in a straight path, and then break out left/right, and go downwards.. trick is to get the flares in his face while you leave his screen... but thats the whole problem with J-10's... its so easy to follow the JSF's.

Now... JSF's... SUCK with the missles... but it isn't IMPOSSIBLE to kill a J-10. With missles... yes.. it is near impossible... but now I am killing J-10's more than they kill me.. And I love it because it is a good challenge. You have to dedicate the game to "J-10 hunting" though.. so it will probably be bad for your team. Just stay high (like 600-800) and dive down to like 400 occasionally to look for the J-10. If you don't see it.... go back up and try again later... etc. Just do that until you find him... if you do, hopefully you have your afterburners saved, just turbo towards his ass and try to get up RIGHT behind him...

The rest is up to you. All I can say though... is don't use missles unless you are planning on using ALL 6, and don't wait for the lock because it won't work either way. You're going to have to shove your nose into his tail and just fire missles as fast as you can. REMEMBER (common sense)... when doing all of this, ALWAYS FLY IN BOMB MODE.

Also, remember.. one of the only ways to get away from a J-10 is to decelerate as fast as possible while turning and evading.

                    God < J10

though i did shoot down some skillful piolets the other day in the F35, and got a colonel smoking

My thing with missles is, chase them for a little bit with missle lock, let them drop off thier flairs, fire one missle then switch back to bomb view, if its a hit i shoot another one and down they go

                      Re: Jet pilots

Yes I agree with everyone stating that the F35 vs J10 is totally imbalanced. I’ve played Wake Island many times and it’s just a joke how easy it is to shoot down an f35 when you are china, and how it is almost impossible to take out a j10.

This post is not about A2A being too powerful or not powerful enough but about air combat being imbalanced.

The problem is air 2 air balance while maintaining diversity, (i.e. not making cookie cutter planes like the tanks) could be quite difficult to solve. You have to remember that it’s not just f35 / f18 vs j10 but also F35 / F18 vs the mig29, the latter being quite a fair fight at the moment.

It does seem j10s do have a "missile shield" but unless there is some dodgy glitch involved the only reason they should be able to dodge missiles is because of their superior turning ability, and or speed.

IIRC the A2A missiles used by the different planes all have their own separate code, or possibly the US has its own version and MEC/CHINA have their own version, (at the moment I believe all a2a missile stats are exactly the same.)

***Can someone knowledgeable about this confirm what is true, I have searched but can't find answers***

If they all have their own separate missile code then it would just be a matter of tweaking all 3 teams’ missiles ability so that A2A is effective but not overpowered compared to the enemy’s.

But if the MEC and CHINA share A2A this would be a major problem as boosting the F35s A2A to combat the J10 would probably make it overpowered vs the mig29.

ONE of the following could be done if the MEC/CHINA A2A code is shared.

                      1) Add separate A2A code for every team. (IMO the best idea)
                      2) Nerf J10s manoeuvrability, reducing its turning radius and/or speed. (not a bad idea)
                      3) Boost the A2A missiles of the F35 and increase the manoeuvrability of the Mig29 to maintain balance. (not too fond of making another J10)
                      3) A slight combination of nerfing J10 while boosting mig29 manoeuvrability and boosting F35s A2A. ( A good idea because it would be more subtle)
                      4) Total cookie cutter build, every fighter plane handles the same (bloody boring and not a good idea, but hey I’m sure it couldn’t be screwed up)

The other thing to consider is it’s not just fighter to fighter combat that will be affected but also, fighter vs bomber and fighter vs chopper. With so many variables this game is difficult to balance but I’m sure EA/Dice is up to it.

Hope they do something about it soon or else I’ll just have to stick to MEC maps for a fair fight.

Why would the Mig29 need to be boosted if the F35 A2A gets better??

The Mig would still be able to turn better and the F35 would be faster....perfect balance.

But, as you have brought it up, the A2A for each aircraft if different code, it should be easy to boost the F35 A2A.
