    Jet pilots

I've got 163:23:34 of aviator time. - It took me some time to get good at flying. But with the release of an earlier patch, which made jet-2-jet missles a joke - it's all gone to ****. It's not fun to fly anymore.

But I've noticed some other people are still very good at it. For example, 2 days ago - some dude was top in the score board with 0 deaths. I never saw him up in the air, and never had a chance to attack him, but he ALWAYS appears from somewhere and I'm dead. I've looked for him - with no luck.

Yesterday - some other guy again. I could never find him, but he finds me all the time, - even when I did find him, the missles just went past him. With the new patch, it's very easy to shot a plane down. I got a lock on, fired one missle, waited for his flairs clear and at the same time he was going UP, got another lock on, fired the missles and they just go past him withought touching him. But when I do the same, they hit me and I'm dead. I've been looking watching with the rear view - the missles are like glue, they follow the EXACT move I do, it's like if they the missles were a part of the jet and copied my exact moves :S

How DOES he escape the missles? What is the secret?

Anyways, are there ane GOOD, and I mean GOOD pilots, that would be willing to give me some lessons? :)

    Thanks.

Fly the J10, the missiles always miss unless the pilot is a total idiot.

That was when I was up against the SU-34 - I always play on the US side and at that time I was flying the one that you can hover with - don't know what it's called though.

F35 is utterly sh1t compare to J-10 FYI
Yesterday, I was flying the F35 and happen to get shot down everytime just becuase the turnning radius is too huge...

However, when I was in the Chinese team, the J-10 owns the F-35 so much no matter how the pilot try....

F35 in reality is a stealth fighter.....
Missiles shouldn't be locked the same way as the other jets are..

            Re: Jet pilots

I am also a US jetwhore.. (lmao). Well, it's because the JSF's (F35-B) are way inferior to all other aircraft except bombers. I like flying on the US because it gives me a HUGE challenge to take down other jets. ESPECIALLY seeing as 4/5 of my time is on wake, and J-10's are on that map, and you all know the situation with the J-10/F35-B.

Basically, the trick is (its very unfair and they need to fix this), you need to fly around in bomb mode, and only use your guns. If you try using missles, even if the J-10 is flying COMPLETELY straight, and slow, the missles will go right past him.

Other than that, if you want to use missles, you will have to get right up behind him in bomb mode (im talkin like.... 5 ft or less) and let off like 5-6 missles before it even locks on, and just hope that at least 2 will hit.

If you haven't already since that last patch... go to the Chinese and fly around in the J-10... watch how insanely ****ing easy it is to kill JSF's.. you will actually feel sorry for them (and you know what its like to be on the receiving end).

              Re: Jet pilots

To avoid missles, you need to perform multiple turns and rolls. The missles react AFTER you do something no matter what. So if the missle is right behind you do a turn followed by a climb or something and the missle cannot react AND stay on your tail. Course, you might not have that much time to react so you need to practice this.

No such thing as a "good pilot" in BF2... The flight envelope in general is a JOKE, in fact, it's a disgrace and disappointment to any true stick jockies out there.

This is exactly what I've learned before the patch. That is how I used to kill the jets. And I still do the same.

Sir. Blades: that is what I do, but as I said, the missles seem to be stick to every movememnt I do, no matter how hard I try to out-manuvour them, they always kill me. Most of the time now I just leave the joystick and let the jet fly straight cuz I know I will get killed either way - so I'd rather not do any damange to my joystick lol.

Guess I will try playing on the China side next time then :)

                    Re: Jet pilots

My k/d is still going up since 1.2 there are many better pilots out there but I'll try to help.

The biggest mistake I see is pilots don't use their flares right. You must know where the lock is coming from and then drop your flares in the missiles FOV and get out of that FOV quick.

The US plane, F35, has issues if AA is released well and you've no flares your dead. Other fighters you might have a chance depends on distance, against the J10 AA isn't very effective, against the Eurofighter it's not very effective. The MIG/F18 you might have a chance if there is some distance involved.

I can't recall seeing a bomber avoid well timed AA since 1.2.

                      Re: Jet pilots

The AA is not a threat - I always distroy them before hand - they never have the chance to press fire.

It's the jet 2 jet missles that is the problem. Flares don't work for jet 2 jet milles. They are useless.

                        Re: Jet pilots

Freindly planes and/or missles hit me more when i'm in a F35b than the J10, usually i get on the J10's Six but usually my teamate pilot's missles or AA will hit me, even if i use flares. Seems once a team-missile ignores the J10 it's definatly going after an F35b, flares or not. Ridiculous.

If i'm the J10 then i definatly don't rape the carrier. As it is i'm basically invulnerable to Missiles, i don't think it's fair to just rape an uncapable like that. This is a game i play for fun and Wake island is terribly boring if USMC can't get to a flag.

(yes i know dogfighting a F35b with a J10 is easy but it is better than bombing it before it gets off)

                        I'm dissapointed 1.22 didn't fix the J10.

                          Re: Jet pilots

Yea, the F35 is junk, I was playing Wake Island this morning and it was so apparent. We had all the flags except for the airfield and the J10's were taking us down like crazy. The only way we could take them down was to concentrate both F-35's onto one J-10, which left the grunts without air support. Next round goes to PLA. I experimented with this one and what I found was if you are lucky enough to get the J-10 with an F-35 on your six, what seemed to work was wait 'till they locked on. Then I flipped into Chase rear and watched the missiles fire, Half-roll and push down on the stick and up you go, and the missiles are like "WTF". I am also a fairly skilled pilot for Battlefield 2 but I am disgusted at the way they made the F-35 and J-10. (I am also a pilot in real life, but unfortunately I don't fly the JSF :p) Good luck and take care,

P.S. Don't forget those flare reload times!

I think we should keep making threads about the J-10 because eventually DICE/EA will get it into their heads that this is ****ed up... i'm hoping it will be in the 1.3 patch.

But its just crazy... not fair one bit.

Jakswan, if you are in the F-35B you need to know all AA locations EXACTLY, and just blow up the popular ones. If you get a lock in an odd location, as you're trying to avoid the missles, look behind you to see which one it is (chances are 1 will hit you, but it is rare for both to hit, unless you can't maneuver). Fly far, and come in and just blow him up and repair.

I love the JSF for a billion reasons, but one being that you can get a full repair in like 5 seconds. Just come in at like 500-600 and start hovering, right when you are about to be still (and above the carrier by like 40 feet.) just start up the main engines, and it will take like 3 seconds to kick in... and in that time you will be repaired.

complete b*ll****. anyone who complains about planes not being balanced is a planewhore whos opinion means nothing.

i learned to fly jets well EXCLUSIVELY after 1.21, in operation smokescreen to be precise.

i get 40 points and about 20 kills a round using only jets..... how the f is that unbalanced?

wow! i cant just go in a perfectly straight line and avoid 16 missiles anymore! f*cking idiots like you are what ruin this game.

i played on wake island, just to find out what the hell everyone was complaining about with the J10.

my conclusion? nothing. it seems the exact same as the rest of the fighters.... tighter handling than the F35, but pilot skill is what makes the call every time.

and the F35 being able to repair means very little to me.... every time i take a missile i have about 30 percent health left, so its really just ammo im worried about.

the biggest problem is when im on somebodys tail and they miraculously dodge all 6 missiles in a straight line, making me return to base to reload and be vulnerable.
