Spot on with your facts, Poisen... now just apply some imagination. What could a hundred years worth of laser research bring consitering that in 22 years they've gone from early household products, to effective (massive) weapons?
Energy is the limiter, of cource, but there's new ground being broken there too.
Anyway... I wouldn't mind seeing some sort of laser turret in the game, but laser rifles... naw, pass thanks.

They did mention that there's gonna be something to replace 'chutes. Ropes would be a cool way to go.

The laser you posted Wargimp is the Tactical High Energy Laser Advanced Concept Technology Demonstrator (THEL ACTD) it was designed and built by a Northrop Grumman-led team for the U.S. Army, Space & Missile Defense Command and the Israel Ministry of Defense. Now being used as the THEL Test Bed, THEL has been proving laser defense system capability since June 2000, when it began shooting down Katyusha rockets singly and in salvos.
