I've seen the red/blue bug on serveral occasions and have also had the CTD a couple of times. For the CTD, the only occurred after doing a patch when I didn't defrag after the patch & shader optimization. Once I did the defrag I never saw the CTD again.

One weird thing I saw a long while back was when joining a map I couldn't spawn at all and was able to fly around the map (very fast) by WSAD. Felt like Superman. I left the current server and went back without incident. Never saw the issue again.

Besides that I've had no problems.

I played the Iron Gator map and reloaded my weapon and got killed,got revived by a medic, and i could walk/run as normal, but my gun werent up..
And Yes, i got killed by a enemy after trying to run around him for 1 minute:)

No major problems. No lock-ups, no crash to desktops, no problem with special forces, no problem with EA downloader, no problem with EF, no problem with the patches (except that DICE has now patched their 1.2 patch twice in the last thirty days:p ) Oops. I meant "hotfixed". It shows they care...right? Right? Maybe?

Blue/Red name bug...yes, seen that. Banned because of it (I think), too.

edit: oh, yeah: the AT missile bug, reload bug, audible medic/engineer healing/repairing bug lasting forever, the switch-to-the-wrong-weapon bug. All those, check.

Massively long load times...yes...but only after I got the genius idea to move BF2 to a secondary (older) hard drive, thinking that that having it on a different HD than XP would speed things up. Not on PIO mode. No way... That was an easy fix, though.

No major, show-stopper system problems, though. And I have some of the most "hated" components on this forum: p4 3.0 prescott, 2x512mb value ram non dual channel, and an ATI x800xt AIW (16 pixel pipes in glorious AGP), a Micro-ATX MOBO, and an eide/133 HD (still a little slow, but much faster than PIO!).

Then again, I'm running everything on medium, no dynamic lights/shadows, 2xAA and 2xAF (via CCC). After all, what is more important: being able to track and shoot down a kinda ugly BH at 60FPS, or being able to actually see flys swarming by the dumpster on Mashtuur at 40? You know, your GPU has to count those flys, every second...

Don't hate me because I haven't had any problems with BF2. :)


EDIT: OK, wait. I do have one. I can't crouch in the tank MG or static MG emplacements. But it's so inconsequential I might as well not have any problems at all.

I have a sneaking suspicion that a lot of problems people are having are carbon interface based errors. :)

I never had any probs , until the release of EF, that screwed me up for a few days till i altered some files now it all works fine again.

My BF2 IS a problem. After a round or two the entire game just freezes, and the only way to get back on is to reboot my entire PC. Now I have to play it at friends houses or net bars (which sucks big time)

Anyone know how to fix this> I've updated punkbuster and drivers, and basically everything else I can think of. This has been going on for the last 5 months

aside from well-known bugs [ghost at, red-blue, lost connection etc] i had only one gripe, and still have it - patch 1.1 installed with SF takes AGES to install [~20minutes!]
i dont know wtf, but all other patches take a lot less time [1.03 and 1.22 alike, it is not fault of the old installer, ignoring for a moment how stupid that 4gb-free on c: was]

this is something that makes me cry each time i reinstall bf2 - and i need to do it frequently

other than that - none problems

Up until 1.21 I had no probs whatsoever.

After that ive seen the red/blu tag bug in almost every round ive played in,tked quite a few guys with that unfortunately.

I seem to spend more time typin 'Oi mate,you were red' than firing me gun

And ive noticed I can't go prone on a few occasions as well...not cool if your'e sniping.

I haven't had a single issue with a patch. I've crashed, but only rarely. The most consistant pain in the arse I deal with is logging on without any rank/award/unlock details.

I run my system VERY tight... 'cause it's such a POS it's the only way I can get anything going.

Don't hate me because I haven't had any problems with BF2. :)

Use ctrl. For some reason, crouching behind emplacements and mounted guns isn't connected to the remapped key.
There, now you have no problems.

To be honest, I haven't had any problems with this game either, the only issues I have had are ingames ones like punish monkeys.

I had an issue with the patching after Special Forces came out, but in the end it was me that caused the problem, not the patch.

I don't agree with how they release their patches, it gets confusing. I remember having performance issues a while back but lowering my settings helped that. All in all, I don't think there has ever been a "real" problem, it's mostly an incompatibility issue. Patches, driver updates and/or hardware changes all help with these "problems", so technically, no there is never a real problem with the game. This is an issue for any game, as the PC is a customized problem; no standard between anyone.

It's like this whole "balance" issue. I agree that the jets could have been considered an inbalance, but I always said that to get over it, you need to adapt to the situation. Utilizing the game's mechanics (i.e. squads, AA, spotting an enemy, etc) benefits those that use them well, and can help you avoid the problems most deem as unbalanced components of the game.

EDIT: I lied (forgot) The red/blue tag issue I had but lived through it. The CTD happened once in a while, most likely a memory leak (even ES IV: Oblivion seems to be having this issue at times). The only other issue I had, in regards to 1.21, was the no-sound from friendly/enemy weapons and the rockets animation thing. These were fixed with the patches hwoever.
