    To PKM whiners

A lot of people have been whining about the PKM.

Now I'll preface this by saying i just recently recieved my silver support badge, yippe! I saved you the trouble of looking up my stats.

Anywho, so what about this thing called the PKM. Is it accurate from range? Yup. Does it hurt? Yup. Can it nuke? Sadly no. The PKM is a powerful weapon, but from watching carefully at exactly who i am killing I am noticing a trend in those that I kill and those that kill me.

    Those that I kill:
    1. They tend to stand up to shoot me when Im shotting at them
    2. They run into the open instead of running for cover
    3. When i shoot them at their sniping spot they dont change positions but pretend that if they wait 5 seconds that Ill "go away"... fat chance.
    4. They think of the road as cover
    5. When I shoot them from behind they dive to the ground rather than running for a new spot or looking at what theyre shooting at
    6. They tend to run out into the open without looking both ways
    7. They stop moving

    Those that kill me:
    1. They choose positions with multiple areas of cover
    2. They hide behind cover and semi auto shoot at me at their conveyence
    3. They throw a grenade
    4. When I shoot at their sniping spot they move instead of sitting there
    5. They do not BONZAI CHARGE at me.
    6. Theyre always moving

In that sense the PKM (and from using other support weapons) and support in general does a very good job of making people find cover and watching where they go. Move through an open street at your own risk. Better idea is to poke your head out look for enemy and kill what you need to before running. I dont own a G3 in an open standing fight (if the g3 is not a spray and pray), i only "own" when I'm in a covered position with a small field of vision with a high concentration of players.

That said it should also be noted that my PKM kills are not as great as I would like to think. Contrary to popular belief, my weapon of choice whilst support is not the PKM but the hand grenade. I know where good spots are and i place the grenades in them. I know how to bounce the grenade to make it go where i want, and how to finagle those tricky corners and roofs.

Yet that still does not net me an incredible score. Just PKM and grenade launching is not enough. So how DO people get those great scores? It's quite simple actually; they know how to use everything at their disposal and available to them to their advantage. (and that means playing more than one kit). But thats for you to figure out (top score tonight 105, 45 kills, 12 deaths, kits: Med, Engi, Support, Spec, Sniper, no armor).

I can get a great score with medic, spec, or support (no longer Assault QQ'ers nerfed it). But when will the whining end? Assault is now useless thanks to you. You want support to go the same way, and then what? Medic, since you can run around shooting and healing yourself? Then spec ops maybe- wait we already did that with c4 chucking? Get rid of claymores and make snipers crazy vulnerable?

You whiners like to think that the players that do better than you only do so becuase they whore some kit. Maybe they're just better than you? Maybe they know how to use what's available to them and you dont? Hard concept? My best rounds come when i use the largest variety of kits; it's not a coincidence.

    Here are my stats http://bf2s.com/player/SlakTSP/.

Its hard to hide from a PKM when hes already prone and aiming at your chest...that gone is like automatic (accurate) M95

Except that... hes prone and you know where he is. Pray tell, how did he get the chance to shoot at your chest? Obviously you had to be standing and did not bother watching corners or camp spots. Otherwise he would not have that shot. Apparently you fall under the "Players that I kill category" becuase you like standing up and running into the open...

And as accurate as a M95? Not quite, seeing as an M95 only needs a headshot whereas a PKm is far less likely to get the same shot. Perhaps you should not remain in the open whilst reloading and not spending your time scoped when looking for an enemy? Also, snipers. Im not going to confuse you for a bush when you are up on a mountain... perhaps hiding IN the bush would be a better idea?

Yes, but if you look at his distance to the flag hes only shooting form 50m away, and most of his kills are on the guys that keep diving down and running through the open lot. Also aside from the snipers who are stuck in one position it takes him 20 shots to kill some of the guys from range that are moving around, and gets a lucky headshot in the process (20 shots, 1 hit that happens to be a headshot). Just look at the last clip. Can it snipe? Sure, but thats only becuase it can put a ton of bullets down range.

As far as sniping is concerned tho, IMHO i think its biggest issue is the limited scope of a sniper gun (comeon its a pretty weak scope if you ask me). It would be nice if you could REALLY snipe from distance as in snipe through the fog, but that likely wont happen.

                Re: To PKM whiners

SlakTSP is partialy right in my opinion. Most players that do complain about the awsome power of the PKM are usually the ones that think you should survive a frontal assault on a proned PKM. I've learned to fear the PKM and I would like to think I fall under players you don't kill.

Yet, on the other hand, I've noticed that alot of players are using the PKM in games. I realised this when I was going for my basic re-supply badge (post 1.21). I was trying to get five re-supply points but no one was hungry for ammo, mostly because every second player had a PKM. I understand that the PKM should be a feared weapon, but when looking at how many people play with it now days it just figures that people who play bf2 know what kills best. Right now it's the PKM.

My only issue with the PKM is the insta prone. Otherwise, I'll flank your position and pop ya with a G3 or my knife.

P.S I haven't played support that much because there's just too many people playing it already (post 1.21).

Stop meeting them head-on? I've been playing a lot of Support lately (trying to get my expert badge) and I've noticed something.

The bad players just run right at me, crouch or go prone, and start shooting. Naturally my big gun wins without much issue.

The good players see that I am support, and know that I am going to drop prone and open fire. So you know what they do? Fvck with me. They run around a corner, pop out and back in, loop behind me, force me to stand up and then go prone again, etc. etc. They exploit the fact that I'm not very mobile compared to their assault rifles and carbines. And it works.

You should see some of the insane shots I've pulled with the G3.

Infact, just for amusement's sake, I camped the same location as PW did for that video. I was using a G3 and I called in a supply crate since I couldn't reload myself like a support kit.

Guess what? I did just as well!
I even had the honor of having someone scream "HACKER!!" because I'd managed to headshot him several times in the round (dude never ducked! Just stood in the open and let me take my time. Plugged him again while he was typing his accusation ).

While I agree that the support weapons could use a little tweaking, I don't think they need anything too drastic.

G3 owns the PKM in close quarters. Sniper rifles use well are more effective at long range. The PKM doesn't dominate... it's just a little over the top at what it does.

Naw, this isn't the right attitude. If something is overpowered, there's an issue in the game balance. It's worth keeping an open mind and looking at the issue in the light of all mechanics.

I stand by my statment that the real problem is underpowered assualt weapons, but the support could use some slight nerfage.
