Shoot them in the face with the PKM sniper rifle.

Definitely, like a game of chess... with bullets :) Sniping is a challenge, which is why it's so rewarding when you do really well.

In your dreams pal. The PKM may be accurate, but it's not that accurate.

Very detailed and diciplined you must have spent a couple hours figuring how to write this guide let alone learn the tatics that come into mind. Practice makes Perfect! Well Done Again!

I'm sad to say I find most snipers are idiots. In Sniper vs Sniper things it's generally the person with the patience that wins.

The number of times I've entered a dual and then hidden from them only to shoot them when they become greedy for points is HUGE.

Snipers seem to get itchy fingers if they haven't shot at someone in 45 seconds.

If you are in decent cover, then simply STAY there fo a minute. I'm willing to bet you 90% of the snipers will move out of THEIR cover first, trying to shoot some other poor slob.

Then plant the second 7.62NATO round into his chest.

What I absolutely love is when the game of Battel Field 2 devolves into a grudge match between you and another sniper. I'm quite happy to forgo the 30 kills around for 10 hard earned ones against a skilled sniper in a running dual.

And I must say I love Jemme101's idea. Pistol then rifle. Must give that a try.

Good Tip there Kayback I use that same tactic also when I get counter-sniped from somewhere. Patience is a virtue when you are a Sniper.

Btw I used that Pistol + Rifle combo with much success on Ghost Town from the top of the Lone Belltower. Make sure you Kneel + Stand in that top section of the Tower, rather than go prone and fire from the edge. When you Kneel + Stand you can stay somewhat more indoors and be harder to spot. Especially when you hug the walls.

We need to go head to head :)

His idea is good, yes, but the only problem with pistol+sniper is that if you get shot after you put a few pistol rounds into someone (or they run away), you wont get the hard earned kill damage assist.

However, if you use Rifle+Pistol as I suggested in the original post the kill damange assist will be yours (unless we're talking SVD and a body shot to an assault troop, but its semi auto so any 1 shot should equal about 4 for you).

That's an interesting point you raise there Spets. When does the damage you inflict on an enemy get you a damage kill assist?

However I usually dont get shot that often when I am in my Sniping spot; out of a 3600 kills I made I died 145 times. So the Pistol + Rifle technique worx for me

50%+ damange will give you a kill damage assist.

Just checked your stats, your K ratio suprasses mine. That really doesnt mean much though -- seeing as plenty of time is spent goofing around since the beginning of stat tracking. What matters is that you have a good K ratio, which means you aren't just talking **** like many of the folk on this forum :)

Look for a server called 24/7 Karkand ***Infantry Only .. something along those lines. It's a 16 player server, usually hard to get into -- its fully pretty much all day. Some of the best snipers you'll ever meet dwell in that server. If I'm playing, I'm playing there.

I only keep an eye out for my kills:deaths and accuracy on the Sniper Rifle because thats the only score that counts for me on this account :)

I'll try to look for that server. Is it in Europe or U.S.?

When i am facing another sniper, i see what weapon they killed me with.

SVD - Go far away and take advantage of thier crap accuracy.
                          Type 88 - "".
M24 - Hard to tell, Could be a n00b or a pro without SF.
M95 - Conceal yourself, and go for long range shots.
L96A1 - Usually a good sniper, who you will need to outsmart.
Pistol - They have a bolt action rifle.

Using that i can normally have the right stategy.

You guys give fantastic Tips & Tricks! I was browsing through the forum and then i saw this thread. After I read it I fired BF2 up again.

But when you're in a sniper vs. sniper situation. Why would you shoot him? If he's hunting you, he's an easier target for your teammates, just simply spot him and run like hell.
I get the point though, but why concentrate on one person when there are min. 15 other people you could shoot out there?
