V1.21 Laggers Look In

OK In have the lag of doom..

this is what i have just finished doing as a final attempt at sorting it.

1. FORMAT C
2. REINSTALL WINDOWS
3. REINSTALL SERVICE PACK 2
4. INSTALL ALL DRIVERS IN THE CORRECT MANNER
5. INSTAL BF2
6. INSTALL FULL 1.21 UPDATE
7. UPDATE PUNKBUSTER
8. NOW I DID ALL THE LITTLE THINGS THAT ARE ALL OVER EVERY FORUM
9. RUN BF2
10. LAG LIKE A MOFO

I will now not touch BF2 until the next patch. It is not my pc or configurations.. My advice to anyone else with the lag problems. Play something else until the next patch.

There isnt anything i havnt tried.

Other than beating my PC with a stick.. and I nearly did that just now.

My Pc Specs Are Fine Why Does Everyopne Ask That. Bf2 Was Working Absolutley Perfectly. Ive Had It Since Release In The Uk. I Only Started Having This Problem Since 1.21. Incase Your Still Unsure My Specs Are Fine.

alot of people think a p3 is fine we dont know your specs so we cant help you.

i am also a sufferer of the so called lag of doom. and if he says his specs are fine then they are. countless people with all kinds of different setups are all having the same problems.

Mine are:
Athlon 64 3200+
1 GB DDR400
Connect3d x800gto
ASrock 939dual-sata2 mobo

and i agree, i'm not going to even open the game until theres another patch, look like DoD:Source for me.

Why do Dice have to suck so bad? They've made the game completely unplayable for loads of poeple.
I've played the game 1.21 but there is just a constant lag and the occasional mega lag.

You went through all of those painful steps to play BF2? You're quite a diligent dude. I would have moved on to another game before going through what you did.

People ask that because they want to help you. One gig of ram or two?

It seemed like with the last patch that ATI users seemed to get boned and they it switched to Nvidia for this patch. Which do you have?

I've got the same problem.

My specs are:
P4 2.4 GHz
512 MB DDRAM
128 MB ATI Radeon 9800 Pro

My ping that used to be consistently around 20 is now no lower than 400.

I am also fairly certain that it is not a performance issue on the part of my computer, because when I look in the BF2 server browser, the pings are still in that range. Given BF2's less than stellar record regarding its server browser, I used Gamespy to look at server pings, and I still got the same result.

Have you updated PB lately? If I were you I'd definitely take your ram up to 2gb. They are practically giving the stuff away these days...

Are we talking about FPS lag or connection lag in this thread? My conclusion was that we were talking about FPS lag, but your post leads me to think differently.

Have you updated PB lately? If I were you I'd definitely take your ram up to 2gb. They are practically giving the stuff away these days...

I'm talking about connection lag. My game runs smoothly, albeit on low settings.

I've updated PB. I've got updated drivers. I've defragged. I've reinstalled and repatched with the 1.21 full patch. I plan to upgrade my memory when I have some spare cash to do so, but I don't think my memory is the issue in this case.

Since BF2's and Gamespy's server browsers both report high pings, I feel that this is primarily a connection issue.

Not your PC spec, look at my computer rig and i'm experiencing issues with this new patch. Plus i have not changed any of my in game settings, it was running smooth before i applied the 1.21 patch. Work that one out.... Yeah me neither.

Yep.. Coming from a guy with 4 gigabytes of it. 2gb of ram is needed for higher resolutions and higher settings. 1gb of ram in my dads pc runs the game fine, but thats on low settings @ 800x600.

You guys experincing lag need to include your specs, it'll help make a hypothesis or even a conclusion.

sounds like patch 1.12, where some people had unplayable lag, but 99 percent, like me, only had minor slowdown.

seriously, DO NOT USE ATI in a rig with BF2 as its main use.

hey i only got one gig, can you help me out and give me another 1 gig?

cause strangely enough, 512 ram here in canada costs 70 bucks.... and im not spending more on BF2, ive spent enough already.

It seems to me that EA and Dice have a responsibility to make their game compatible for the about half (give or take) of the people who bought and intend to play their game who happen to have ATI video cards, ESPECIALLY when they claim to support these cards.
