sniper isn't a point-whoring kit, just a very annoying one if played correctly.

You take out enemies over and over and they don't know where you are, so they eventually leave an area. You've either just defended a flag or prevented enemies from repairing a bridge, camping a spawn or similar. It's good for the team, but not so good for your point tally.

The Key is to work with your commander as the squad leader and bring a medic or support with you. Supprt can re arm you and give cover fire if your found out. A medic can heal you and finish of those 5% helth left guys your m24 or m95 leave. i suggest only taking one other person with you. The commander can tell you when the enemy has sent a team to sack your main base or if they are going around one flag to another. Then you can meet them for a surpise. i like to put a cymore on the flag an then pick off whomever is left. Look for other ebemy sniper where you would hide, bushes, benches, dark corners. On Wake one time i snuck round the enem and as they were running towards my flag I ran with them and knifed the slow guys as thier sprint ran out, got 5 kills like that. If only it had been 7 before i was discovered. I'm sure it looked crazy, as there were about 10 guys all running down the road, getting stabbed as they went.

For more points as snipers you need more shots by a sniper rifle! So you need SVD, good accuracy, good damage, headshot is still a headshot!
It is so sweet to put a bullet in the enemy m-24 sniper's head with your SVD, cause they always expect to be hit with 3-4 bullets before die.
Once i killed whole squad with 1 clip on Karkaand. It is so enjoying to know that you are only 1 and you stopped 5 ppl

            What he said...

To add, if you are looking for big points then the sniper is not the best kit...

But it is a lot of fun and you can be very useful at dealing with enemy snipers or covering fixed emplacements (AA, TOW or MGs) or otherwise causing problems for the enemy...

Snipers are situational. You aren't going to get high points in a round JUST playing sniper becuase a lot of times snipers are just not effective for the current situation.

I regularly get high scores and I often will use sniper in parts of a round as it is very important. . . like if you are a SL and you want a spawn point near the enemy base. . . or if you are a trying to defend a base while your TM cap it. I end up getting a lot of kill damage assists this way and I will also get a bunch of kills.

However, if the situation doesn't require a sniper my suggestion is, if you want points, don't play sniper.

LOL...Also, you can't use those weapons as a sniper, so suggesting sniping with them is rediculous!! Yes, you can snipe with those weapons, but YOU ARE NOT A SNIPER... Stop making suggestions like that. Well done on the deride, Arkasha!! :)

But your ignorance doesn't ever seem to stop you from coming up with some dismissive BS about a class you clearly don't know how to play.

Like I said, just shut up for a change. You're not clever. You don't have insights. You just have a bad attitude and a talent for being wrong.

Re: Getting good points as a sniper

Snipers are pretty much useless dead weight on a team so I'd really recommend instead of picking sniper you go with a medic or PKM. I'm not trying aggravate the snipers, but rather I'm just being honest and telling people how it is. This is very irritating considering the sniper is the second most popular class past support.

The main objective of all infantry is to kill the enemy and push them forward till you reach their flag and at which point you cap it. Sitting back 2 flags away wounding people does little to help this cause. You'd be much better off as I said with a PKM, then you can snipe (when the situation calls for it), and then take people head on and then contribute to your teams victory with a flag capture assist.

I've noticed something very particular when our team loses a map (city map especially), often times a huge chunk of our team will be up on the crane or a rooftop sitting back and sniping. Teams lose because of that kind of selfish behavior and narrow gameplay style. Point wise, I've never been outscored, or even outkilled by a sniper while playing my support or medic kits.

Re: Getting good points as a sniper

OH...so you're hijacking the thread? He's asking how to earn points as a sniper, not how to be more effective as a player... Some people like to play other kits and no one has a right to dictate what they play. Sniper is a support class and it has its own purpose. If played properly, it can swing a conflict point in your team's favor.

And what is the problem with that? The PKM can snipe better than any sniper rifle, and then you can use it to push the enemy back and assault and capture the flag.

I personally hate when I end up on a team full of snipers and I see 6 people on the crane, 5 people on hotel roof, and a several more spread amongst various campy locations all while the enemy pushes forward, captures all of our flags and pounds us in to a bloody pulp.

Too bad you're almost 6 months late with that...http://www.totalbf2.com/forums/showthread.php?t=32937

I still agree with my post, but I have seen some people who do a very good job with the sniper kit and I cut them some slack accordingly. My theory now is simple:

If someone is sitting around being ineffective with the sniper kit, they're probably not going to be much use with any other kit, either.

Exactly!! I agree with THAT statement 100%. My point is that if planewhore asked for help with, say, dropping bombs in the bomber and all we did was tell him how stupid it was to drop bombs when you can use a helicopter instead, it would defeat the purpose of the question he had. Instead of posting irrelevant points, say your peace and let others provide more appropriate, constructive assistance.
