You have to pick the right map, the right spots, and then get lucky with the flag progression.
You won't consistantly get high scores with the sniper kit because there are too many factors beyond your control. For example, playing brit on Warlord, I parachute into the sw building on the sw flag. I can get LOTS of points there IF:
1. The enemy assaults that flag regularly. This usually happens because if they get that flag they can roll up in technicals and nail anybody chuting in. This is usually how they start---if they know what they're doing, so if you can beat them there, you've got lots of easy headshots lined up.
2. I can get resupply either by air drop or a supply guy parachuting onto the same roof. It isn't easy to hit in either case for the inexperienced, so I have to make every shot count and then just zipline down to flag, plant claymores and suicide and start all over. You'd think with the sudden crop of PKM whores, you'd be able to get ammo, but they don't even know wtf the ammo bag is or does.
3. The brits don't take the TV tower. Half your snipe points in that spot will be people on top of the tower and those who then zipline over to the 2nd highest spot on the map. The spot I use puts me in deep shadow, so those guys can't even see anything except muzzle flash. Problem is, brits take tv tower, there won't be any insurgents up top, much less zipping over to the other spot, or pushing to the flag I'm on.
One other nice thing about the spot is that nobody tries very hard to remove you from it. If they try grenades, they're in the open taking fire from chuters and your vehicles coming up the left side. If they try grappling hook, you hear it and kill them. If they try to get the height advantage they can't get to a good position without you being able to nail them before they nail you.
If the map flows the way it usually does, you're actually fairly valuable to the team as a sniper in that position, imho. You're perfectly situated to countersnipe the 2 highest points on the map, to cover one flag completely and you're in range of a quick zipline to two other flags. You also spot any specops guys taking that route to the commander's assets.
On a good run, I'll break 40 there, and I consider that a high score for just using a sniper rifle.
That is how I play sniper. If I can't limit myself to a couple choice spots in close proximity of a target rich environment, I'm much better off switching to Support or PKM and assaulting flags, at least if I want to be a valuable member of the team.
