Re: Getting good points as a sniper

I find it best to work in two to three man squads as a sniper. I usually have one teammate doing resupply and one medic. Don't stay in one spot. Snipers can be surprisingly effective at taking bases as long as you have one other class working with you. The use of claymores to protect your flag cap spot is essential. after capping the flag, have your resupply and your medic leave you a bag or two and have them roll to the next base. You should be able to catch a few kills as the enemy reacts to the base capture and rolls in to recover it. If you've been spotted or have ended the threat, catch up with your squad at the next location. I try to keep a 4 wheeler within a hundred yards of my position for catching up to my squad.

Don't pay much attention to the sniper hater above. Obviously, he thinks it's far more difficult to spray and pray than it is to snipe... The two to three man squad that I usually run in requires that we switch away from sniper at times. Sometimes you just need a grappling hook or a an anti-tank weapon. While it's fun to rack up points as sniper, it's always more important to be beneficial to your team. Any time that you can pop a pilot out of a chopper, it's a big bonus. It gives you a kill on a stationary target and it keeps your teammates from getting chopper whored....Happy Hunting!

Try sniping on Mushtuur or Sharqi, camp on the buildings or crane. I can sometimes get up to 30 kills in a round from sniping, although it usually depends how many enemy snipers there are to how many kills you get.

i know what you mean by not getting points with the sniper rifle. what i've noticed is that i do better with the pistol than the sniper rifle. try running up and attacking with your pistol. it also helps to carry your pistol when moving around.

Re: Getting good points as a sniper

I do most of my sniping on Mashtuur and some on Sharki, i generally spent the time counter sniping noobie snipers who spend their time camping on cranes.

The first key to sniping is don't be where it is obvious.

Unfortunately I only get some decent sniping in when things slow down to a stale mate, mainly because I suck at leading my shots.

I do love the feeling of shooting another sniper in his head though.

mashtuur is my best sniping map, i can usually get around 50-60 points with the scope on it in one round

If I'm going to play dedicated sniper for a round then my aim is at least 30 points, preferably 40 but that is pretty hard, it also depends on the traffic you get at your location.

I've found that you have to be patient when playing sniper, don't shoot anything that moves, find the right target and the right time to shoot, ie. a sprinting player will slow down once his stamina runs out, that is the time to take the shot.

A player running directly at/away from you is much easier to hit than someone running horizontally to you, so if you have the choice, aim for the easier victim.

If you want high points, don't expect to get them as a sniper unless you are those few who run around behind enemy lines plantin claymores everywhere. But points don't matter, being a sniper is definitely the most challenging and most exhilarating of all kits.

seriously, youre better off with grenades than with your sniper rifle, unless theyre more than 300 feet away.

and claymore whoring is the way that most "pro snipers" get high points.

this is partially because their only skill involves going prone, moving a mouse and clicking, complaining when they miss and get knifed because theyre too stupid to watch their back.

the best strategy is to snipe with any weapon except a sniper rifle. SCAR L, G36E, SRAW are the best for this. believe me. if you insist on sniper class, use the SVD, it beats the snot out of the rest and is actually decent.
Dude, why don't you ever just shut up? You're hopelessly ignorant to start with. The SVD is OK, but it's not as accurate or as deadly as the M24, and the M24 isn't as accurate as the L96.

But your ignorance doesn't ever seem to stop you from coming up with some dismissive BS about a class you clearly don't know how to play.

Like I said, just shut up for a change. You're not clever. You don't have insights. You just have a bad attitude and a talent for being wrong.

If your gonna camp as a sniper, always make sure some sort of cover
eg behind rocks, ledges , terrain
and everytime you wanna take a shot just stand up-shoot-then duck down again
but you gotta have good reflexs for that
for getting more points , try and keep urself not to far from the heat of battle but still able to see the enemy running around.

Re: Getting good points as a sniper

Well I get 50-70 points as a sniper (if you check my stats and think otherwise it is because I use sniper kit for every vehichle so..) using a simple technique. Shoot everyone you can. I mean running or anything because you also tend to get kill assists this way. Also use your claymores like mad. Your favorite or best spot is also very important. I usually like get out a SVD and go urban sniping. I love that thing. You just lay up with the pkmers and shoot almost as fast as them but usually you get the kill.

Nvm 30-50 points... I just thought about it for a second :)

Sure, I can get positive K/D ratios, and I enjoy sniping, but I can never get beyond 30 points without jumping into a vehicle. I don't like claymore spamming, so that's out of the question. So, to you pro snipers out there, what are your tactics?
Create a squad, capture and defend flags.
Hanging back and hiding wont get you any points. Chase the action.
I got my expert on Wake Island capturing and defending the south flags.

I had my expert badge long before the claymore spamming began.
Besides, the claymore spamming only began when they eliminated the c4 chucking. Most of those snipers were only trying to get their explosives badge.

Yea, if you're like me (hate vehicles, don't spam) there isn't much you can do unless you get so good, anything that moves ends up with a bullet in its skull.

If I'm covering a squad I tend to radio in moving targets before taking a shot- that way if I miss or only hit the body, at least the squad I'm covering is forewarned. It means that usually you will only get a kill assist, but better 1 point than no points and your squad bleeding all over the place.

Otherwise, I find anti-sniper work gets me the highest scores. Its useful to remember that when shooting a hiding target a hit in the foot is just as damaging as shooting it in the chest. Especially useful when the clipping isn't working quite right and you can see bits of them poking through walls.
