I don't think they are out of reach at all. If you're a good player you earn points pretty quick and thus advance fairly fast. If you really cannot move a foot without getting knifed, well it'll take you longer, lol.
It's all about skill. No, not bragging, my stats don't warrent bragging, just saying th obvious.
Haha, you say that now... but in 10,000 points you'll be bummin' cuz you've still got 15,000 to go. Trust me, I know.
Yeah, I have to agree that the gap between first/master sergeant and and next rank is rediculous especially if you look at the point gaps between the rest of the ranks. The only time that the gap is again 30k points is between LTC and Colonel. The really should have rearranged the point system after adding the new officer ranks. you spend all the time getting the 30k points to make first sergeant, and then 10k later, your a 2LT, and the 15k later your your a 1LT, and by the time you've made another 30k points, your almost a captain. They should have adjusted and reduced the point system for the enlisted ranks, and made the gaps between the officer ranks more significant.
If the highest ranked player is currently a Colonel then you can't say they are out of reach.
The game wasn't designed so we'd have thousands of generals running around.
So the top players are either20-30 year old welfare check taking loafers that can't be arsed to work. Or 12-16 year olds whose parents can't be arsed to make them go to bed at a proper time. Or people that get home from work, switch on the computer and play till 0300hrs in the morning whilst snacking on pot noodle and doritos every night.
And were meant to have respect for these players??????
Computer gaming is one of the few past times where the very best at the hobby are usually the very worst type of person you would want to know.

maybe dice should throw in battlefield commissions in the next patch, for a big kill streak or something along those lines, I don't know, I'm at 29,500 and I'm getting pretty burned out with this game so i doubt I'll ever see 50K.
Having high ranks is good because even if they are soo high that you will probably neva reach it in a lifetime...it still feels like it neverends and prolongs longetivity of battlefield 2 instead of reaching highest level within an amount of time.
Screw the ranks, it's about time for some new maps at this point.
Wait, I guess that would mean buying a new 'expansion pack'...again..only to have nobody serving it. SF bummed me out because there are only 60 servers with my current filtering. BF2 vanilla has at least 1k. Plus SF doesn't render worth a crap, it's still dog slow in alot of scenes even on good hardware.

How about triple the points when getting a gold medal and double it when earning a silver medal? This should make people work harder. :)
That would be fun, I can see it already, 20 medics running around in Karkand reviving everything, no matter where, even if he's beneath an enemy tank....
