Hm, I saw a custom maps ranked server yesterday...
It said something like: EA DE custom ranked server or something.... The map was "Berlin" if I remember right. The game version was different than mine, perhaps still 1.20. It showed up as a ranked server, I had the "only ranked" filter on and it had the ranked symbol in front of it...
I don't know, perhaps it works? Yesterday only 2 people were in it.....

I guess it was that server.... It is playing a map named Operation Black Hawk rigtht now...
The ranked flag is set...

I don't know if it really records ranked stats and if it breaks the ROE from EA.

Yes I saw once a Karkand 2 map in the ranked server list but when I joined and asked the admins they said it is not ranked :S

If they do that, you create an extreme exploiting system .

you can create custom maps where

- rouds take forever
- totaly unbalanced
- create glitches in for your own use
- etc ....

only if the maps have gone through quality control, but after we have seen the quality control standards EA/DICE applies, ...

I'd much rather do away with the whole damn retarded ranking system and allow full customization which is what sets PC gaming apart from the rest of the pack. Customization of servers, maps, clients (reasonably limited like Source) would give the game a much longer life time. I don't see anyone on these boards getting their 10 billionth point on karkand anytime soon or in the future.

What other choices does he have, there is only one or two populated unranked servers running mods i can think of. Even then you won't see these filled and not everyone can play on them due to high pings.

I've suggested this same thing. Have a group, either EA/DICE or community, have a submission system, so people can submit maps for ranked status.

The group then plays them, and look for balance issues, problems etc... If they find any, they tell the person who made it, fix these issues, and resubmit.

Then at the end of the month (or beginning) have 2-3 maps that are released as a map pack from EA. That way, EA does very little work in it, but the whole community gets better.

But that'll never work. Because people will keep buying the things EA wants to sell them.

ok, but as I said, in an other thread, when EA does this, this means also they are responsible for those maps, and even when they test it, people will find some bugs and glitches in it, and DICE must fix them, also realy testing a map, takes two months with a lot of people, then you know if it has good balance or not, dice won't put all that time in it , so they would release to comunity, comunity says after some time, map is unbalanced, dice is stupid, bla bla bal

I would be contented with a client side stat monitoring program that tells my statistics. That would be real cool, and it has nothing do with EA/Dice and would prevent stat padding since the statistics would be avaliable only for yourself and noone would want to show off. I think I will make a request for the MODders :)

erm i think this is already in use i think its called none ranked servers doh,
the main part of bf2 is ranked servers an the ranks/weapons,
if not why did you buy the game?

I voted yes, and I think it's a great idea, I'm sure by giving us some new Ranked maps to play on people like me might forget about the annoying but petty(for the most part) disfunctions of the game.
