I thought the point was to win? It's certainly not to lose. Another thing is that this game is heavily based on getting points, especially early on. I can see that if you have like 80,000 points they don't really matter, but when you've only had it for a little while you try to get all the awards and promotions. If you don't want to play with people trying to get points then you need to find a server where everyone has tons of points and they don't really care about racking them up as much.

Yes, when something is effective at killing you I can see how it is annoying. It's like the people with planes. They have a nose for me when I'm in a tank and a tank is almost defenseless against a plane. So what do I do? I adapt and I'll grab a AA vehicle and hunt for the planes. So just adapt. Unless you're just getting annoyed by the noises of the grenades? In that case, become a sniper and just hunt for other people and stay away from the grenades.

Well you can only lay 2 of them now so there can't be that many. But again, it's probably people going for their basic explosives badge. I know when I got mine I was putting my claymores down like there was no tomorrow. I'd run into a heavily fought area and just toss them down, die and do it again. It's an effective way to get the badge. And again, people are going to use things that are effective.

I agree that snipers in squads is annoying, especially when they are the squad leader and they don't give any orders or anything. It really is a waste of a squad.

Here's what I think though: You're getting upset at people for doing things that are effective in killing other people. Contrary to what you think, not everyone bought this game to be in squads and use strategy to conquer the map. Some people just want to blow stuff up and see people fly. If you don't want to see these things, then find a clan or a server where everyone works together.

Another thing, why aren't you upset at people who just fly around all the time? They don't capture flags, all they do is kill people, get a defended flag here and there, and rack up points. Just curious.

What I experienced upon my first and last (for awhile until this **** is cleaned up) game is among the following:

      - PKMs. Everywhere. Not only is this a rare gun that marines wouldn't be packing, but everyone is using them. What's wrong with this community, why is it that people have to play for the points? I loved the PKM before, and now I refuse to use it and see it as a wasted unlock simply because I WILL not use a weapon that gives me a disgusting advantage over everyone. - Claymores. As plentiful as the PKMs. Not only do I have to deal with getting slaughtered in close quarters by PKMs when I have a DAO but now alleys are unnaccessable because claymores are everywhere.

-Snipers. Are everywhere. In squads, all over. Stupid. That's all I have to say.

I hate succumbing to these 'omg bf2 is ruined cry' threads, but I have to get it out somehow, it's almost tragic how something so good has been molested so badly. With how soon the patch 'fix' came out, I can only hope that repeated whining and crying about the problems that REALLY matter will wake Dice/EA up and fix this.
I kind of feel bad for you because you have some sort of predefined idea of what fun is expect everyone to adhear to. Playing to win is fun.. its great. The whole point of a 'game' is to win (chess, checkers, tetris, pacman, etc). If you're not playing for a challenge... why are you playing?

Anyhoo, dont get me wrong... I just don't know where you're coming from here. Any class I play, I play good at. If I hop into a server with a clan, I'll usually get an invite. When Napoleon and myself jump into a server we dominate all round -- regardless of class.

Rememeber dude, the game is what you make it. I like to make a game within game nearly every round (ie: defend this spot only or just go on a rampage). It does take skill (by skill I mean good reflexes and a smart tactician in the split second). Good players dont complain about the enemey PKMs.. they kill them. Good players dont complain about claymores, they go around them :)

      Here's my suggestion:

      - Load the game.
      - Find a 24/7 <insert fav map here> server
      - Make sure the server is 16 player
      - Make sure the server has a good ping.
      - Join the server
      - Join the team that has less people
      - Play to win and dont get angry when you lose

Follow that procedure and you'll have a great time. I myself love getting into personal duals with people. We hunt each other all round.. its great. You can usually get a dual started by consistently killing the same person. This, however, takes some thought.

Re: Just played the new patch, I'm sorry but..

well here's a link to an article about playing to win http://www.sirlin.net/Features/featu...ToWinPart1.htm
and secondly, what are you accomplishing by whining about how unfair it is that pkms pwn you every time and that you are "better than that." that's just going to lead you to get killed more and more often.
the first secret of the pkm is that pretty much everyone who is using the pkm now is either a) a former assault player who switched to the new "big gun" or b) a decent player who used the pkm before and is now using it to an even greater degree of effectiveness. players in category a are nothing to be afraid of, and I'll explain why in a sec. player in category b might be a problem, so you just have to be even more careful.
the second (and more important) secrt of the pkm is that you have to have experience and very good aim to hit someone moving sideways with the pkm. try it sometime; this is where the pkm just falls apart. even if you're tracking well, the pkm just has some kind of problem with this type of shooting. as a result, you can simply start sprinting sideways once you spot where the pkm is shooting you from, and as long as you find SOME kind of cover, you will be ok. players who are a bit better with the pkm will have less trouble hitting you, but will still have some difficulty. in this case, you just need to be smarter with your cover and minimize the distance you have to run in sight of the pkm.
to summarize, NEVER run straight at a pkm and expect to do anything because you may kill one every once in a while if you're a good player, but it's not worth the frustration of being mown down a gazillion other times. run SIDEWAYS, but don't strafe, you need to be sprinting. always make sure you're running to cover, and you should be ok.

i think the claymores are geting out of hand on karkand but that isnt the patch the claymores are the same they always were, its just on karkand claymores are VERY effective.

In fact a suicide run as sniper throwing claymores gurantees you at least 2 kills if you drop both claymores for your single life lost and thtas if your unlucky if your lucky you can get massive amounts of kills.

Re: Just played the new patch, I'm sorry but..

Thanks the replies guys, wasn't so sure I'd get positive feedback from this. Now to deal with what I saw coming:

Please don't tell me to adapt. I don't find it all that tough to deal with PKMs, and trust me, I know how to use the damn thing myself. Someone mentioned the 'towelheads using the pkm in real life' and I know that too, but I have a habit of playing as MEC, so it just looks sketch seeing all the USMC with PKMs.

Anyway, back on topic. As far as playing to win goes, sure I do it, it's a competetive game; but what I describe as 'fun' is pretty much before the wacked out patch. And yes, I have complained about plane/vehicle whores, but I just play on urban maps to avoid that all together. I was happy! It was all good; The noobtoob did suck, but at least I saw most of them carrying M16's with the attachment and it was the assault class that was being whored, not a bunch of idiots hitting the deck instantly and mowing you down with sniper accuracy.

Aah, and, I'd type more, but my ride is outside and I need to go. More feedback! I didn't even want suggestions really, but some were pretty good. Thanks for the maturity at least. (:

I guess when it all comes down to it I play a lot for style.

I'd say the PKM, Claymores, and Grenade throw range are at the top of the issues to be monitored list. Threads like this with both sides of the issues are a nice help!

I still use the DAO and it still has thew same affectivness now as it did before the patch.

Plus you can not be called a noob for using the dao it is a close quarter combat gun so unless you are close to your enemy you get owned

                      Hey, thanks for chiming in.

I think a big part of this issue is context. I rather enjoy the way the PKM feels now. Same with sniper rifles. Much less luck invovled making your kills. However, with the GL a little (or a lot depending on your take) over nerfed, the Assault class has been rendered impotent for the most-part. It really should have been either and minimum range or a smaller splash radius. Not both. :\

Really, in the next round of mechanics tweaks, I'd much prefer to see some buffing done on Assualt and a minimum of support nerfing.

                      My suggestions:
                      - Increase support weapons minimum deviation a little for prone, more for standing/crouched. Same tweak for recoil.

                      - Increase the splash radius for GL rounds. It's really a useless weapon now when it's so hard to place a good shot and a miss of a few feet results in NO damage.

                      - Hand 'nades... I'm really not sure about this one. They really are the only way of clearing certain rooftops and stuff.

                      - Fighter imbalances need to be looked at. I'd personally hate to see all planes reduced to carbon copies of eachother. I'm thinking that the J-10 maybe sure have it's armour and/or missile load reduced.

                      - The BH's M134 needs a little TLC. Same with the skycow, for that matter. Was sad to see the BH get seriously nerfed instead of the cow getting buffed. Leave the armour alone tho. It's cool the actually have to be worried about being shot down.

                      - Ground AA tracking range could stand a little increase. As is now, it's rather hard to get a lock before a plane is out of range. This would make things harder on choppers (who need a little relief from AA issues), but seen next suggestion

                      - Reduce plane armour along with missile and plane cannon damage. Leave choppers alone. This would alow choppers to survive against AAMs more effectively while retaining their threat to planes. It would also keep air to air balance intact and reduce the effect of cannons on ground armour. Bare in mind the above suggestion of reducing J-10 armour. 2 missiles to down a J-10 and 3 for anything else seems about *right* to me.

These are only my personal observations and I'm sure some folks will dissagree with some of 'em, but I've actually thought these out perty hard.

Feel free to poke holes in 'em.

Cool, i would like to take this rare opportunity to directly reply to a DICE member...

The PKM probably should have its minimum deviation boosted from 0.1 to 0.4 (or is it 0.01 to 0.04?). Standing deviation should be increased SLIGHTLY...

Claymores should be left alone. It should require an engineer to remove ALL explosives, instead of allowing anyone with a grenade to blow explosives. (This is for teamwork reasons.) But make claymores friendly fire..

The grenade throw range should be reduced a little bit.

Artillery should be Friendly Fire.. The current system of spamming artillery, without negatives, is destroying great firefights; where both sides has set up a front line...

I guess no one saw grenade spam coming from the support kit since it doesn't have unlimited ammo or anything. Oh wait it does.
No wonder nade spaming happening when a player can throw down 3/4 ammo packs while pitching a tent near a spawn point/flag and have at least 12 grenades to spam on to at least one area.
It's not so much range of the grenade but more like abundance and as long as nades are on a support kit players should be prepared for the spam from the ammo (in more ways than one) spam kit. A reduction to two grenades at most for a support player would be a nice way to limit a single players spam ability forcing them to basicaly reload via a pack after everygrenade.

But the support kits do other stupid things like letting players hit the deck while firing more accurately (no drop down delay time) is just one thing that really ate away at me because 21CWs mod's support kits are basicaly the same as these vannilla support kits so i've seen the affect of the support kit (well a more leathal one) in organized play and it just isn't that great after a while getting mowed down. Thankfully 21CW let all the weapons get HS kills.

You say "Claymores", i say single clackers. Click boom, click boom, thats the way to clear a room. If a player had to think about placement, line of sight, and so forth when placing a claymore i think that would really up the reputation of snipers because it would force better player awareness (some people go to sleep while right clicking ya know!) on the tactical scale.

ZHPkiller, i have one thing to say to ya, "we are the borg" :P

I get killed by them even when I see them. I am never expecting them to explode and kill me when I am 10 ft. away. And there NEEDS to be a way to blow them up when you spot them.

It’s a video game, not a war-sim meant for training troops.

Things are going to differ from real-life combat situations.

If you can't understand or deal with that, boo ****ing hoo.

And the pkm is a joke.

Any player with even semi-decent skill or game smarts knows that the H&K family guns flat out dominate in this game hands down.

90% of the newbies using the pkm now are "spot, prone and iron sight" types and if you can't drop them with a quick burst from a g36e/mg36, you have poor aim and reflexes, period.
