Yes the Mig vs JSF is a very even fight. you say its 2 vs 1 on oman, but Su34 is actually very capable of downing F35s post 1.2 if they get behind em, its all about controlling speed.

And to answer your question Jakswan...I let no pilot get behind me for enough time to gun me down, I check views every couple seconds. And with a J10 in my hands, I am unstoppable, no one will shoot me down with guns even if it took 10 shots from it to kill me, which is why I dont like flying the J10 and why I dont play Chinese maps any more, or very rarely.

I feel all jets should be on equal footing, but not exactly handle the same. JSF has more stable guns and fast accel, Mig slightly better turning, J10 should handle like Mig but keep its guns unstable and add more AB or something. You get the idea.

You dont go up against the J10 in Eurofighter so I dont know which would win.

I agree 100% and i think that should be done to planes.

Fair point Colony, I watched PW's vid again he didn't take a scratch.

Although I'd miss the J10 it's just great fun to fly, I guess I'd prefer JSF v MIG type battles, rather than something that could evade AA.

LOL, the Eurofighter, only been able to get on MEC team recently but against a good pilot the Euro is a nightmare to take down.

Air combat is a lot different in Euro Focres I find.

Dont nerf anything, just improve the things that need improvement.

I do the same, but it isn't necessary to have the 500 cannon ammo to get it down. Inbetween J-10 respawns you have more than enough time to get to the carrier and back and still catch the J-10 before take off. Of course, you can do that with any aircraft really so it isn't a solution to dealing with J-10s, but rather a bandaid that many pilots use to prevent having to go toe to toe with a J-10.

I do it to keep them down as well as the helo so hopefully if my team is smart they continue to attack chinese main and at least get it neutral, then I rearm over their airstrip and wala, 600 more rounds of ammo.

Nearly every online game has has some kit/class/vehicle that does not quite stack up against the others. Does it matter? If all things were equal what is the point of picking that kit, class, vehicle? The greater the difference between the kits the more a squad must work together for the win. Of course, bugs gotta be fixed but that is a different matter.

Re: The single biggest balance issues that remains in Battlefield 2 - the J-10

I've been experiencing odd A2A behavior lately (in regards to missiles veering off of target) with the F35's versus the SU-34 on Gulf of Oman. I've adjusted my airspeed to match theirs, quickly approached with the bomb HUD, switch to missile HUD and let loose after gaining a lock and them dropping flares. After the flares have dissipated and my missiles are loose, I notice that the majority of them glance off the SU-34 leaving it with no damage. This happens especially when the pilot's not trying to evade.

No problems with A2A missiles? I beg to differ. I think the next time I'm up with an F35 on Oman, I'll shoot a video and post it here so that you can all see what I'm talking about.

Edit: I've also given up on Chinese maps due to the J-10. I can't stand flying the thing since I don't feel like I have any control with the cannon or bombs. I also get peeved that no matter what I do, they're impossible to shake. After I've dropped flares, the best thing to do while still under lock is just bail out and play as infantry. Either that or just not play China maps anymore. Mig-29 vs F-35 is much more fun.

Nothing is wrong with the missiles. The F35 doesnt have as good turning radius as Su34, so even when you "match" their speed, it wont always guarantee a hit. A2A is less maneuverable than the ground AA missiles. If a su34 is locked on by ground AA with no flares, and the turret guy has half a brain to know when to shoot, Su34 should be hit almost 100% of the time

I've said it before, PW, you rock. I ALWAYS choose china, and I can't remember being shot down recently in a J10, except for one fight against my expert bud IIBuc_NastyII who sports a 53:1 KTD in jets and that was J10 vs J10 because he stole ours. I just played 2 rounds of Wake, one on both sides. In the JSF35 I watched countless missiles veer off randomly after being shot at the J10, these missiles were fired when I was directly behind them and they were out of flares. Half the time these missiles hit teamates. I ended up like 37:9 Then the next round I was in the J10. I went 53:1(I was TKed for the first J10), and the only damage done to me was by the essex and that was minimal. I probably took out 10 F35s, almost every time my missiles flew THROUGH the flares.

I also have a problem with S2A missiles, but that's not as drastic. It seems S2A missiles completely ignore flares often.

Ive noticed a major problem with the J-10 vs the F-35B though. If your in a J-10 and chasing a F-35B lock and fire 1 missile the F-35B will flare but the missile quite often ignores the flares and hits the F-35B anyway.

Firing missiles blindly at enemy bogies in a banked turn is not something I normally do. They usually end up missing. What I'm talking about is pursuing a perfectly leveled out SU-34.

For example, I followed the SU-34 into the MEC airbase where it was rearming. I was back about 150 meters and at the same altitude. I locked on, waited for flares, waited for another lock and fired 2 missiles- while he was still leveled out. They both chased him and "bounced" off careening to only God knows where. Hrmmm... He makes a slight bank to the left and heads towards the beach. I'm still on his tail and fire the other 4 just to see what happens. One hits and the other 3 miss. I then just finished him off with the cannon.

Again, if he had been near the end of a hard 180 degree turn, I could understand why missiles didn't hit. But to be in such a perfect position, those same missiles would take out a Mig or F-35 every single time. It's not the missiles- it's the aircraft you're firing at.

Missile behavior I personally have found also depends alot on the server. If it is running smoothly and your ping is good they tend to behave ok and hit correctly.

If It is one of those choppy servers where everything is jerky or you have a ping around 100 or higher then missles do tend to do some very strange things and miss when they would normally hit and or glance off targets without causing damage

I still prefer the jet vs jet combat of 1.12 and earlier only one thing really mattered back then pilot skill with board gun
