And on small player loads, its just dumb as hell to have 6 or 8 aircraft
6 aircraft? Well total sure....but come on....1 chopper and two jets....thats not so much...

Roger, you have trouble seeing the bigger picture. I'm dissapointed I didn't see you on the server though, first round of Dalian Plant, both games I had fairly weak games of 40+ kills zero deaths and even with my below average performance China won by 150-200 tickets both times. Wake 2007 is even worse. And yes, I'm balancing the game as a whole because with the J-10 the air superiority China gets absolutely ruins the balance of certain maps. I know this because I cause this same imbalance to occur every round I fly a J-10. If I get out of the J-10, or switch teams to U.S during the second game, that second game is always a much closer game even though the teams will remain virtually the same.

As far as the J-10 dodging S2A like the Essex gun, well I'll believe it when I see it. As far as my experience goes if I'm locked on to by S2A in a J-10 those S2A missiles will pretty much always hit me irregardless of what plane I'm flying or even the fact that I just deployed my flares.

I'm not complaining about S2A even though it is so newbie friendly and often completely ignores my flares. To a good pilot it isn't completely overpowering, the J-10 however is.

read what he said again CAREFULLY. he suggested giving the j10 the same handling as other jets, not the other jets getting the j10s handling.
maybe you are right, here is why i was confused.
The exact level of handling for the planes I believe should be all imported over to the J-10, as it is a faster plane which will make for more robust and skillful dogfights, and it is less stable than the other planes.

since he originaly refers to this plane that has the flying characteristics of all the planes as something that would replace the j10, he then goes to say that this xcraft is faster and less stable than other planes. although j10s are relitivly stable, saying that this mystery plane has all of the characteristics of the jets in the game, and then saying the words "other planes", made me assume he meant the j10, since there are no other planes.

that being said, do you honestly want all the jets that fly different now, to all handle the same way, that takes the variation out of it. the jsf and j10 are fine as is handling wise, same with the aa missiles, the problem is that aa missiles shot at the j10 miss when they shouldnt. im not saying that some aa platforms cant shoot them down, but the majority of jets can fire a perfectly aimed missile at a j10 (and maybe others) and have it fly up to the tailpipe and proceed to miss. if this one thing was fixed, air combat would be where it should be. once again im not talking about missiles that arent close enough to hit, i am talking about missiles that miss when they are clearly on target.

G2A missiles track more aggresively than A2A, no-one is asking for that to be changed.
they still miss when they shouldnt.

seriously read things carefully as you make yourself look like a plank that cant comprehend words and sentances.
          lol

well before i respond to any of that i want to know what handling characteristics this plane of yours will have, i mean, a mix of all of them? what? if all the planes are to perform exactly the same, would they have a turn rate like the j10 or less of one?

you didnt understand what he said thats all.

G2A have a very high hit rate, if they are missing its because of flares, out of range, turning and luckily managing to loose it (which is rare). they may also appear to be inefective because only 1 out of 2 hits, youve got to be very **** to have 2 hit you lol.

a2a only miss the j10 because its turned and got out of your missile lock, remember missiles come from the lower part of the plane, so if the j10 turns, you have to turn before it to get the missiles to track. missiles have always been like that, they dont take a sharp turn untill they are some distance infront of the plane.

rare my ass i dodge g2a missile all day, as if it can be called dodging, all it is is turning hard, and it happens often. fly right up to the engine and then miss.

a2a only miss the j10 because its turned and got out of your missile lock
they miss when flying straight sometimes, and other times you can lead the j10 and it will still miss. i was flying this morning and a guy unloaded his jsf on my j10, 5 out of 6 missiles missed, every last one of them that missed flew right up to my engine and then misses. it has nothing to do with lock, its bad codeing.

listen dood, i know how flying works, you dont have to explain the basics, but seriously, the things you said here arent true, aa missiles do fly right up to the engine and miss, it happens alot.

yes, your not wrong to say they fly upto the planes engine and then dart off somewhere else, but i find that happens quite rarely.

Re: The single biggest balance issues that remains in Battlefield 2 - the J-10

Hey guys, adding to the discussion a bit late, and this has been alluded to, but I just realized this.

The J-10 has always been no question the best handling plane, it obviously out turns everything.

Well, lately as it happens I've been playing the game a lot, not on the Chinesse side, and whenever I get into a dogfight with the J-10, 1 out of 10 missles hit the J-10. While when I'm in an plane any good lock from an opposing plane will take me out.

I assumed it was the J-10 handling capabilties. Well I concluded that is part of the equation. I was playing Wake Island last night, and there was a noob pilot in the J-10 (I was USMC). Guy was flying straight constantly, so an easy lock right.

Well, what I noticed is NOT ONLY is the J-10 the best handling air plane, but the missles just don't lock onto it like they do other planes. I fired missle after missle at this guy from all ranges straight on, and the missles would fly at him, and at the last moment veer off like in pre 1.20.

I would kill him with canoons, he'd hope back into the plane, I'd fire again, and all missles would veer of course. Occasionally 1 would hit him, but rarely.

In constrast to other planes, I usually have no trouble have downing the planes, because half the missles hit. But with the J-10 not only is it the best handling plane, but EA decided to add a missle shield to it too.

Re: The single biggest balance issues that remains in Battlefield 2 - the J-10

I've only started really flying planes post 1.2 since i can actually get hold of them as they seem less desirable to most people. I can tell you for sure that the J10 is much better at combat than the F35 or any other plane as a matter of fact...

When behind a J10, i get a solid lock. He can be straight infront of me, i fire a missle. He turns just a TINY bit. The missle misses.

When inside a J10, i get a lock on a plane doing a turn. I fire, the missle hits the plane square on. Sometimes the missle doesn't even get thrown away by the Flares.

Seriously, in my 4 or so hours in planes i have never laughed so much at how stupid the J10 is. Trust me, you don't even need to have decent evasion moves to avoid missles in the J10. But you can pull every trick in the book when against one but still die due to missles. I agree with PlaneWhore that the best thing to do is make all planes the same but give some small changes to each planes to still keep some sort of originality.

All tanks are basically the same, the APC's don't differ that much, the choppers are basically the same... Why not the planes? Why is it that the planes have to be drastically different? The vehicle aspect of this game is laughable in terms of balance...

I'm not one of those people whining at the things that constantly kill me, im one of those people asking for balance. If not then fair enough, i will still fly the F35, kill some ground targets and attempt to take out the J10. I will die and my plane KD will look terrible but whatever...if i can take out some tanks in wake so the ground troops have a chance then at least i have done something before i die...

Edit: I know this post states alot of things that've been said but i just wanted to say it anyway

Good to see everyone sees this balance issue. But posting here wont help too much, so everyone go to this link and post your feelings on this so EA can get the feedback. Its an official feedback thread on their UK forums starting by an EA guy. I already posted, so here is the linkie:

many of the posts including mine have stated the issue at hand.

                          J10 = GOD

I figured this out when i tested the J10 against everything

F35 vs J10 = J10 takes out the F35 with the first two missles fired, no matter what the F35 piolet does. If the F35 chases the J10 and gets a lock on, J10 is untouchable, even with flairs.

F18 vs J10 = same thing as above

Stinger vs J10 = one missle will hit the J10, with no flairs. Second missle will miss and j10 will get away.

Carrier missles vs J10 = J10 is untouched, i flew by a carrier and let who ever was in it get a lock on. I pulled up, not straight up with after burners, no missle even came close to touching me, i didnt even use the flairs.

Conclusion, the J10 is a ghost in the shy

i think the j-10 often gains air superiority over other planes due to its great handling and speed.

Dude... man this J-10 is such BS... I just got back from like 10 games in a row on wake. I was on USMC everytime. The only times I had good games was when I got the FIRST jet that spawned, and I got over to the airfield and kept blowing up the J-10's. If you let one off the ground.... you are dead. The ONLY.....ONLY way, to kill a J-10 in air with a JSF, is to sneak behind him and wait until he is in a straight line and shoot your cannons at him and DONT MISS one shot. They will die in ~3 seconds of continous fire, but still... 3 seconds... what kind of retard dosnt realize that someone is shooting at him? So what does the J-10 do?... He Breaks out of the JSF's L.O.S. and does circles and goes up high (as we all know... JSF can't keep up in a "circle war") and eventually finds you and kills you. Even if you are like me and continuously look behind you... If he gets behind you, there is about a 95% chance you are going down.

The 5% is the amount of completely retarded pilots that enter J-10's, so you can just slow down in the air and they fly right past you.

AND............ like some other guy said.... its not only maneuverability issues, It's also the fact that missles shot by a JSF, will NOT hit, let alone kill, a J-10 in the air*. It goes straight past the ****in thing.

*You can only use missles on a J-10 if it is sitting still on the runway, or if it is only halfway across the runway and still taking off/going slow.
