Yeah, this is actually kinda OFN.
The information (and a video) was "leaked" (I suspect "planted") a couple weeks back.

I wouldn't expect to see it out for about 3 years. Party do to the dev-cycle and partly for marketing reasons. EA will want to juice BF2 for coin for awhile.

On a design note, I really wish they'd stayed clear of 'Mechs. The BF games have always been psudo-realistic. I'd like to see plausable futuristic combat. 'Mechs might be cool, but they are impractical, improbible, and cliche.

I'd much rather see come good extrapolated tanks (non-hover), weapons, and aircraft.

In other words, I'd love to play a science-fiction game, rather than andother science-fantisy shooter.

This sucks. I hate futuristic crap. I want war, not unrealistic deathmatches. Hopefuly this will flop like BFV did, and they make a worthy sequal.

I hate the BF2014 gameplay, it makes my computer crash and it's too easy to shoot down the spaceships. Hope they patch it soon...

Don't confuse Holywood depictions of Railguns with what they might actually be like. It's just a different way to chuck metal slugs at things.

Something that is interesting, is that railguns and plasma weapons may become the same thing. Sci-fi loves to use the word "plasma" constantly, but few people understand what it really is. Plasma is just super heated *anything*. This produces a substance that is neither solid, nor gas. It's fruggin HOT tho. It also reacts to magnetic influances and just can be controled in interesting ways. The idea of a plasma weapon would be to super heat your slug during firing and somehow contain it long enough for it to read it's target. In effect, it would be an ultra napalm launcher.

BTW, I picked up all this interesting trivial while working on an ilfated game project where our working rule was "If you can't find a good piece of science to back up your elements, it ain't going in". Had a couple hardcore physists in on it... including a former MIT Prof. Even had some corospondance with NASA. Neat stuff. Too bad we went broke.

Dude, their not even doing well with BF2 patching. I dont expect them to even be working on a new project before getting all the things right in BF2
