Re: how safe is a mod
I don't know about the Nuke mod, but if a lazy modding group created a mod that doesn't have its own "mod" subdir, separate from the bf2 vanilla mod, and it makes changes to the bf2 vanilla levels folders then yes, your screwed. Not worth the effort. A good clean mod does not make changes that BF2 sees as modified content. A good mod will change those files on their own "server" and not on the "client" side, which is your computer. As long as this is done, any mod doing this will be save to install. Unfortunately, most modders don't do this or understand this concept.Originally posted by PBAsydneyThis nuke mod is installed in BF2, so you will have to remove it each time you want to play BF2 on servers with MD5 validation.
but as long as EA supports mods and has Server files we can modify, then all kinds of "safe mods" are possible.Comment
