Lol wake. That's not even a challange. F35 vs J10 to start with (and if there pilots are CRASHING INTO THE GROUND they are'nt that good to begin with), and then boats vs tanks or blackhawks vs attack choppers and stingers, combined with the usual noob usmc team, they get owned.

Big fracking whoop, honestly plane whore, can you find a flight sim, and "own" that online, because you really are starting to become "Egowhore", you've dedicated your life to flying crappily modelled planes, in a game which for 6 months has been nothing but a joyride, and then still has ridiculous problems and errors with flying planes, all because of the stats and rankings. LOL at you.

The only thing I'm jealous of is that you have a good joystick or something, and you can run fraps without getting ruining your fps.

      And...?

We all know PW's got a fat head and likes to make a big deal outta an unfair situation. He's also got a talent for blowing the crap outta people on the ground.

Yer not going to deflate his ego. Bash him and he's just gonna grin all the more... 'cause he's messed up that way.

      *shrug*

Just laugh at him and play along.
      Much more fun.

Hah, he thinks he's king of the planet because he can fly a crappy plane in an online game, I am definately laughing at him.

That was good flying but the only videos I've seen are Wake Island J10 videos. Try to make a video of something different. I see this video about 90% time I play Wake Island.

I dare to say that i'm a plane whore, but i don't complain about the new AA, it's great, the only thing that sucks is that it locks on to friendlies, I just have to be more carefull while flying :p

J-10, a little over the top? Or am I just that good?
                  no and no
AA missiles, overpowered heat-seeking minions of death, or just plain whacky?
overpowered no, whacky and busted yes.

Blackhawks or rubber boats, which is the new bastard step child of the Battlefield series?
niether, they serve a role, if you are stupid enough to get caught in one you deserve death. the problem with usmc players on wake is that they dont understand that air support is most likely not comming to there rescue. if the team gets in a "stuck" position, those who spawn on the arty island either need to pick at or medic so they can clear the shores. blackhawks need to also have ppl start bailing out over the shore, and not get greedy, flying low or really high doesnt hurt either.

                  Rear-mounted missile launchers
simply put, the aa missiles are really messed up right now, they should not turn anywhere near that hard.

basiclly just like the first video, theres no good enemy jets. i was flying against maj.azzole last night and let me tell you, its not "ez" when you have a good pilot against you. good pilots clear the air before they bomb anything. that is, if they are up against good pilots.

yes the aa is busted, does that mean it shouldnt be effective? no

Yeah, tell us about some other sims - that would be interesting. PW, we know you can fly in BF2 and how the hell can you record with fraps so well? Your oman video had flawless recording too.

                      This, I'd like to see.
Maybe a real demonstration of skill.

                      I mean, jeez, I have splashed J-10s.

I'm not digging on the idea of washing out all the elements of the game to the point where all sides are just carbon copies of eachother. Look at what happened to the BH. :/ Instead of being a respected power, it's now been reduced to the same status as the skycow.

It's possible to implement balanced mechanics without everything being the same as everything else.

Maybe reduce the missile load on J-10s? Take their armour down a bit (2 missiles to splash 'em instead of 3)?
This video was a tutorial, like "How to own while keeping your ass safe!". As you noticed, J-10 picking was intentional.

As to the question about J-10 balance. Heres what you can do.

Reduce J-10s afterburner timer to 9 seconds.
Increase J-10s full roll time to 4,5/3 seconds (first digit without afterburner effect/second with it)
Keep the sluggish 1 second reaction time
Keep the full loop time (6/5)

Increase F-35Bs afterburner timer to 11 seconds (from 10)

                      What would that achieve?

J-10 fading in comprision to F-35B in advanced maneuvers, advanced maneuvers need fast roll speed to jump from turn to turn. With a lower roll speed those babies will feel like a wet sponge.

Afterburner time from 13 to 9. Im seriously STUNNED at this one. Who the **** gave J-10 13 seconds and F35B 10? I think someone messed the numbers up because if it was the other way around, it would have been more balanced. But if we keep the J-10 at 9 seconds and F-35B at 11, the F still will have 2 seconds left once they are all depleted. And it wont compromise the speed differences between F35B and MiG too much (MiG has 13, but the lowest speed of all fighters, its a real aerial snail)

Allright I JUST saw the video. I didnt see anything that excited me. Dogfights seem to be 1-2 pass deals. I just watched it for the witty comments. Not that interesting (I already know your ATS skills from PW The Movie). Ultimately thats the point, isnt it? "Welcome to the boredom zone", where the only piece of excitement you get is when you see that white "You killed..." in the lower left corner...

A few questions for you PW as you seem to be setting the pace on these debates:-

                          1) Is the J10 more or less of an issue now, e.g. although I'm just 1/20th the pilot that Planewhore is (given the size of his ego and how good he thinks he is that is a quite a compliment, thanks) I don't think in 1.12 he could have shot me down if I were in a J10, now I think he could. The point I'm trying to make the F35 v J10 was never a fair fight but it is less of an issue now. I mean it's nice to fly a J10 but you don't just switch teams to get one do you. Now before you go, 'omg I'm the best no chance' well someone else then on different levels, you see the point I'm driving at surely.

                          2) Although Wake has been made worse by the patch, how would that game have been different in 1.2, choppers would always go down fast to cannons, BH's had more armour, needs fixing, I agree. I can't imagine that the result would have been different. More baserape I suspect.

                          3) The AA is buggy, I think a lot of the bugs come from the fact that it stays alive through flares. Not a tech head enough to say if this is easy to recode or not. I think we have to accept that DICE will not be given enough time by EA to do anything exotic. The game balance and AA has been done to death, just agree to differ is best methinks.

As to the question about J-10 balance. Heres what you can do.

Reduce J-10s afterburner timer to 9 seconds.
Increase J-10s full roll time to 4,5/3 seconds (first digit without afterburner effect/second with it)
Keep the sluggish 1 second reaction time
Keep the full loop time (6/5)
                          Sounds good.

The video itself was pretty boring I didn't actually watch it all, I was expecting to be taught how to dogfight, but it was just clinical, not knocking it as such very effective use of J10 on a good team against an ordinary team.

I shot down J-10s all the time in the F-35B during the 1.12 patch. It wasn't nearly as large an issue (though it still was an issue) because getting a missile lock never assured a J-10 a win. That doesn't mean I didn't think it should've been balanced because I was suggesting to DICE to do something about it often before the 1.2 patch was released.

A lot more carrier rape in 1.2, which was where I'd get at least a quater of my kills per game of Wake. Helicopters had more armor so they were much harder to take down, but still not all that hard. The big thing of course relates directly back to the missiles, which do tons of damage and require virtually no effort to connect, while in 1.12 you had to actively think about many variables before you decided to launch missiles at a helicopter. I was very pleased with the level of balance 1.12.

That was the point really, before 1.2 piloting was much more engaging than it is now, helicopters were actually tough to take down, dogfights were involved, S2A installations actually were able to launch missiles at me, and the missiles that they (and other planes) launched required me to actively anticipate and dodge accordingly.

Couple that was throttle control, maneuevering, trying not to crash, aiming bombs and cannons defending flags that you saw a bit of in the video and planes were very fun to use and very engrossing.

they can still miss.. I've seen, on more than one occasion, missiles fly right past a jet straight ahead that I locked on to, and turn steeply and kill my team-mate's jet.

No flares were dropped, and no evasive action was taken by the enemy pilot. The missiles just went right past him.

The same with helicopters. Sometimes ground AA missiles track straight to the kill, perfectly. Other times they fly right past the damn engine of the chopper (which was just hovering). I find the randomness of the AA somewhat infuriating - as sometimes its so damn good.
