    Re: SF is GOOD

I think SF is great, I got it the day it came out and have not played vanilla since. I have spent 134 hours playing SF, compared to only 84 hours for vanilla. I have unlocked the new sniper rifle but have not even tried it yet, as I would have to play vanilla to try it.

I will go back to vanilla when the Euro pack comes out Wednesday, but for how long I’m not sure. As I need to have my fix of Warlord and Ghost Town.

Ive had vanilla for quite a while so of course ive played more vanilla but now im just playing SF. Ive spent the past week on SF and only opened vanilla for my own mod that im workin to learn 3Ds max and the editor too. Sometimes i play a bit of vanilla if i cant find any SF servers close enough, and lets just say i always think of using the grapple but then i remeber im in vanilla :p

SF is awsome, tho 30$ for it was ok it still rocks my rig

I'd play more SF if I could use all my unlocks...

Plus, I love karkand. Nothing like a good struggle for some spawn points. :box:

I play special forces almost all the time. LOVE GHOST MAP

So if SF wont be supported, does this mean the major lag from 1.21 patch wont be resolved?

I cant believe EA and DICE wont support SF. What were they thinking. I mean i didnt buy a mod, i bought an expansion pack to their game, released by them.

It seems like EA doesnt know waht direction they are going? They screw up patches, release products that arent going to be supported and dont listen to consumers?

As far as I know, they are continuing to support SF. The 1.2 patch added content (specifically 2 new weapons), and the 1.21 fixed the TOW crash bug. I suspect they will still trouble shoot problems, but as far as releasing new maps...they aren't even doing that for vBF2. We only got one "freebie": Wake Island 2007.

There are (for me) some minor problems with SF, but I'm still playing. Had a banner night last night playing an 18 person server on 64-p maps. Scored 93 points on ghost, playing SAS and camping the enemies arty island. Got veteran spec ops, veteran spec ops special forces on that map, then got veteran AT spec forces on Warlord (same server last night), and earned 130 points doing it. I liked the fast paced runs to cap points, blasting the enemy tanks, running across the map to another cap point in a 3-man-squad, clearing the spawnees with the DAO-12, hop on an ATV, clear across the map again... Lather, rinse, repeat.

And had fun doing it! I think SF shines on large maps with few people, ESPECIALLY because of the abundance of fast vehicles. Also, fewer people = fewer computer resources = less lag, and fewer people = fewer targets and more places to hide = less total ownage from choppers (hat's off to them that do manage to get me).

As the li'l nooblets say, SF FTW! :p

                Re: SF is GOOD

Whenever I go to play Special Forces there's some problem with my computer. What I mean is, like a month ago my data drive died and ever since then I've been having computer problems. I can't find a virus or any real problems. I don't blue screen except for once in a blue moon and probably due to overclocking. But at first my videocard wasn't good enough for Special Forces at the quality level I wanted to play, and then when I got my new card everything was fine but I was just more interested in vanilla. Went to finally go play Special Forces but during one my comp fixes I screwed up my CD key . Finally unisntalled and reinstalled and went to play, and the game was very laggy. FPS were low but playable (around 40fps while vanilla is at or above 100). I'm also having problem with COD2 weather maps. I'm hoping that when I get my second 7800Gt this week and run in sli, things'll clean up a bit. And as soon as I get my tax return (should be available for withdrawel friday according to IRS.gov) I'm doing a massive upgrade to my computer which will, among other things, require a fresh install of windows. I consider this to be the completion of this computer and thus a permanant install of windows (which means reinstalling only every 6 months) so I'll be sure to protect it and take care of it's stability.

When I installed this new videocard mobo combo I had a 25 second boot. Now, less than a month later, it's at least 60 seconds. Grrrrr. =P

EA could very easily strum up new interest in Special Forces by hosting their own Special Forces servers on super fast machines that help minimize ping and register all of them on the MYIS system, then advertise the hell out of MYIS. One of the main reasons I shy away from Special Forces even when it's working is because so few work through MYIS, there aren't many to choose from even when through just BF2, either not enough players or too many, and takes forever to log in. MYIS special forces requires a double boot.

Fellas, for the people complaining about lag get a new vid card or RAM cause I have none, And for servers there is ALOT like come on I dont need 500 000 servers to play right now I play in Moders ghost town, CodeblueBF (no nites) and 420 jedis.

Ya i play on those servers often, get teh same ping as vanilla. I dont get any lag at all And some of you have stronger rigs then mine and complain of a loss of FPS
                    I have:
Athlon XP 3000+ (yes that old socket A)
1GB of ram (the cheap stuff too)
                    X800 XT (on AGP8X :p)
                    BF2 FPS ~36
                    SF FPS ~32

Yaaaa. Okie. I'll just go do that. Oh wait, I already have. Three times. What makes you think a better videocard will get rid of lag? I average 70fps on a Special Forces server regardless of the lag. And I have 2gb of OCZ Platinum 2-3-2-5 T1 ram. What should I upgrade to? Besides the fact that I'll be running sli by the end of the week, I guarantee you that I'll still lag on Special Forces because it's not client side. It's not server side. It's the two talking to each other which cannot be corrected by hardware on my end. Possibly a faster net connection (I have 5mb/s cable and might be upgrading to 8mb/s) but in the end it all comes down to the PATCH. The patch is the translator. Without a good translator, the passage of information degrades in accuracy.
                      ------------------------------
EDIT: Slight appology, I just noticed that my ram isn't in my sig. About to fix that.

                          Re: SF is GOOD

Different strokes for different folks. SF is great for being more compact in term of surface, having more vehicules and having something other than ocre colors or sunny chinese sky. I love the atmosphere of Surge and Mass Destruction.

Moreover, the night maps can make a saint a bit sweary sometimes, but Leviathan's hangar are a lot of fun.

As for lag issues and technical badd voodoo, aren't they present in both game? Yeah, I think so.

I recently switched to Vanilla to get some little decorations and, honestly, there's a big lack of small crafts to get you around fast that you can forget after using.

                          Over and out.

Well I got my EF and I can say that it is a nice break from Vanilla also. It's liek large scale maps that are fun to play on. Unlike the ones in Vanilla. It's fun to sit back and use the sniper rifles on these large maps. But it's even cooler to whip out the SF weapons. :) The be able to use these is enough to buy SF I think. But for the $10 EF is worth it.
