You missed my point. No biggie. I was talking about things you can do besides killing the enemy while still earning good point spreads. If you do the "tasks" AND kill people... wow man, talk about points. Coming form someone such as myself with my numbers, I might be on to something you have overlooked.

      a) there are no 128 player maps that I'm aware of
      b) artillery kills don't yield 2 points

If you killed 64 players, you killed their team, your team, and yourself.

        Stylish.

I really appreciate all the input....also
for some reason for WEEKS now, i cant get my stats back from bf2s.com, all i ever get back is that im in que and on hold. DUNNO WHY... but i have not been able to retreive from them forever..anyone tell me another place i can pull them quickly?

          my BF2 name is j4v4d0g.

i realize that there are other ways to get points (ie, medic, engineer repair, ect), i just have always been partial to that rocket and the DAO. i am deadly at very long range with the rocket, however that obviously isnt doing me much good when my time played equals crap in total global points.

also, dont get me wrong, im NOT all about points points points... i run with some great guys that have been playing this with me since the beginning. we all love our microphones and have a GREAT time just playing. its rare that i think about points, but once in a while, when i DID look at the stats, and see that its telling me based on my current speed i will reach the next promotion in 286 days...its just kinda depressing.

I certainly appreciate all the feedback, and certainly MORE is better. Keep good ideas coming, as well as links to good stragity forum threads and helpful websites.

again, thanks a ton, certainly appreciate all the help and i knew you all wouldnt dissapoint me.....well besides telling me that my favorite kit of all is the one i SHOULDNT be playing *sigh*

My bad, I am a bit slow tonight. a note to all you fathers out there, I had an epiphany the other week:

Little babies don’t care what time papa goes to bed, only what time he wakes up....

            *smile*

My name IS javadog in bf2, i get myself confused often...

Stats from bf2s.com are as follows:

Again, feedback is invaluable and certainly appreciated. Thanks again in advance

java I play anti-tank a lot too (only second to medic, g36e headshots are as addictive as crack) but it's mostly because no one else (in general) will.

There is nothing more annoying than having the opposing team totally in control of the entire map's armor... yet we have 31 guys running around with pkm's...

As for a good k/d ration, don't expect it with the anti-tank class unless you spend a lot of time in tanks/apc's.

While it is true you can rape close range with the DAO, being the guy who has the job of taking out armor on foot, not to mention having not even a semi-decent medium to long range weapon, will always result in a crappy ratio if you spend most of your time on foot.

If you want points and a good k/d ratio, get in some armor and the kills will fall in your lap.

The comment about flag caps was a very good point too.
I almost never use choppers or planes, yet I finish in the top 3 in almost every game I play.
And it has a lot do with the fact that I’m one of those players who never sits still and just goes from flag to flag capping/defending for the entire duration of the round.

AT isnt a very rewarding class point-wise, as destroying a tank is only two points if the guy doesnt get out..... its mostly to help ur team.....help them not die

the tank is vicious, and should be two points for destroying (with AT kit), when occupied by enemy.....plus the kill

Yea, if you want points, stay away from sniper as well. (unless of course, you're a clay spammer, but that isnt how to play sniper, and everyone who does that only proves that they're point gluttons.)

Points and global scores are ove . Since this is solely multiplayer, and the stats are pretty accurate, the average k/d ratio should theoretically be 1 to 1. That's about what I have. However, considering I hardly ever use vehicles, and I can't fly anything, I consider a 1 to 1 k/d to be pretty darn good.

Numbers don't mean much anyway. I can think of dozens of ways to make the numbers look better than the actual gameplaying is. I have no respect for anyone based on stats alone. I do respect people who prove to be solid team players on the battlefield. Therefore, I have to have respect for anyone who plays AT, just for being the guys who care more about the game at hand than the numbers on a chart.

As for advice: I say team up with other anti-tank people. Two or three anti-tank guys working together are a complete and total denial for any vehicles. If you play in public servers, try creating a custom squad and naming it 'anti-tank'. Then, when you spot any other people playing AT, invite them to the squad. Most experienced AT guys will join up and be thankful. Works like a charm for me anyway.

                      Theres your problem.

And on karkand which is your most played map, getting kills with the DAO is very easy.

I suggest visiting www.secretsofbattlefield.com to check out how to easily take out tanks.

Use your AT rocket to hit infantry at long range.
Heh, Java and I play together almost every day. Two hit tank shots and infantry sniping are his specialty. I think the problem with us not getting enough points is that we try to play for the team. Everyone else runs around in their jeeps while we make our runs for the US main base on Sharqi.

Re: Tips and Tricks for AT Kit (and others)

                        Thanks

As I have said, I do have a crew that I run with regularly. I basically won’t play the game if my buddies can’t run with me. To me the game is NO FUN running alone without a squad of great people to coordinate with. So as far as teamwork is concerned (and im not just tooting my own horn) I am DAMN good at. when we get a good commander that can actually run the battlefield and I have my squad of 3-5 that I know and have run with many times, our squad is always, and I mean ALWAYS the top squad, and we usually capture most of the 'special categories' that show during a map change.

When we are fully squadded up on average our squad has twice the total points of the REST of the team. I love this game for its teamwork and that is prob one of the reasons I run AT all the time, because my other squad mates that I run with also have preferred kits and we then support each other quite nicely.

There’s nothing more annoying than people who run this game like it’s a single player game. but that’s not the point of this thread, the point was for me to help polish my strategies and look for advice, because while the points aren’t that important to me, I would like to get my 'rank' up a bit higher to show my expertise, AND unlocks.

Thanks again for all your input guys and gals

I don't feel like reading what everyone else put, so I'm just going to give my thoughts. I noticed someone said flag captures, and I agree with that. Another thing is just playing a different kid that gives you team points, like medic, support, or engineer. If you want kills, fight in vehicles. Any vehicle gives you an advantage except maybe jeeps just because they're so fragile. Or just be commander and get the x2 points for a win. You need to give up the AT kit if you want points. It's just not built for combat... even against tanks especially with all of the bugs it has in 1.2. I'm guessing by now you should probably have Expert AT Combat badge? I suggest retiring it and using other kits and only going back to AT when you really need it. If you really want to be AT, try driving around in a tank with it. It's good to finish off other tanks with.

Erm. I play AT all the time now (for the past 160 hrs with 225 hrs on this profile), and I have no trouble getting points.

                              Tips:

Use AT to take out: infantry at varying ranges; crappy chopper pilots (use vodniks + humvees too); fully loaded vehicles and BHs.

Go as AT, get into a tank, storm around killing people and when you come up against another tank, if you do badly just step out and own him with your AT rocket. Capture flags and defend flags.

AT is perfectly good in most combat roles. Especially once they mend the stupid misfire bug from 1.2.

Edit: I've just looked at your stats. Basically, you need to get better.

To be honest i would just play the game to enjoy yourself, stuff the points, if you want to lower yourself to tank/apc/jet whoring or legalpadding "ie, medic 64 kark no matter how many enemies surround whoever you just revived" then thats the only way your gonna get big round scores.

i have a low global score but i am top 5000 at and top 3000 sniper so must be doing something right and only play 64 man servers i accept that the style of play i like means low scores but i enjoy it to much to change.

if you want to achieve the 100+ a round scores then you will have to change kit and tactics drastically.

And for those of you who say he is bad, shame on you, he plays a style he enjoys that is well known for having lousey rewards.
