Tips and Tricks for AT Kit (and others)

    Good afternoon,

I am not new to this website forum, nor to the game itself. Bought the day it came out and have been playing steadily ever since. Like most I have found a kit that I love to run more than any other and at this point, I am pretty ingrained in it, and rarely run anything else. That kit for me is AT. Of my total hours played which is over 550, at least 90% of it is run as AT. Here is my problem, and I am hoping the community has some suggestions that would be constructive. Thank you in advance for your read and any advice you can pass my way.

I am currently ranked around 27K points globally. When I check my stats, it is roughly assumed that at my current rate I will reach my next promotion some time when Armageddon strikes and we are all sent either to heaven or hell. This is unacceptable. Usually I do pretty well in any one round... usually ranked in the top 10 overall, and sometimes ill take one of the top 5 positions (yes I have gotten #1 #2 and #3 too, but its just not as often)

I see tons of you out there with godly amazing global numbers and I’m just shaking my head in wonderment. You cant all be excellent pilots, so what am I missing? Is it that I am limiting myself to a single kit? Or am I just not playing the kit to its full potential??

Again, any suggestions are appreciated. I DO LOVE the AT kit, so if you have any feedback based around that kit I would really appreciate it, more globally, this thread can open up to discuss other kits and their best overall playability, but I WOULD like to focus on the AT kit..

appreciate all you do here...lots of good insight and info. I find myself whittling away hours following threads, good thing I run my own business out of my home and am a full time dad, because someone who would have 'hired' me, certainly would be disappointed in my work performance....*smile*

    Thanks again

Your problem is twofold: you don't realize how unbelievably easy it is to pilot ANYTHING in this game (especially tanks) and yes you are playing the wrong kit if you're looking to get points. AT has no "magic" abilities that score points for him like say support or medic (I dont list spec ops or engineer because their magic doesn't score points fast). I suggest trying either of those two and you'll notice a serious increase in the number of points you get per round just because of having magical ways of gaining points that don't actually involve combat (some might say don't even involve helping your team).

Also, try driving a tank or APC, infantry are such easy pickings once you get used to it its almost laughable.

No offense but 550 hours for 27k points is pretty bad, link your stats perhaps?

Well, if you want points, play medic or support.

Here's my trick. I do not have a really high GS, but I do well because of one thing; I grab flags. I'm a flag cap whore. I want them all the same color all the time. 4 points each if you turn them from one flag color to yours. 10 caps is 40 points! If you kill people and aid your teammates during the process, scores near 100 each round are not unrealistic.

There is one other benefit from this method. You may win more rounds as well. You also get a sweet gold medal collection.

I can pretty consistently get around 110-150 points as medic on about any karkand 32; it's just not fun.

Yea, AT is the wrong class for points. as banthur said, no "magic" abilities. and if you wanna get points without whoring, get real good, real fast. preferably, play something liek assault or support.

My personal favorite magic is two engineers in armor right next to each other; I do it with friends over TS a lot.. find a random 64 karkand two apcs and a tank and maybe a humvee all loaded with engineers, completely unstoppable.

AT and Eng are worst kits for points.

I suggest using the DAO and not the P90 at least now becaues the p90 suxxors.

AT, play close range maps like karkand and sharqi and ghost town....use the DAO to just obliterate people. Use the AT missile at long range.

And yeah 550 hours for 27k points is pretty bad no offense. But if you mostly play AT then that makes sense I guess.

Unstoppable until a jihad jeep comes up from behind.

I just looked at your stats "Javadog"

2700 kills and 3900 deaths with the shotgun.

                Theres your problem.

And on karkand which is your most played map, getting kills with the DAO is very easy.

I suggest visiting www.secretsofbattlefield.com to check out how to easily take out tanks.

Use your AT rocket to hit infantry at long range.

Ummm, the title said AT tips and tricks... oh well. lol

As was stated above, the fastest way to score points is to vehicle whore, or Medic/Support whore. Those are fast and easy.

It's amazing that everyone focuses on how to get points without actually winning the round. In the point system, the most points you can get by any task in-game is by taking and turning a flag. There is a reason for that. The game is about the flags. If you don't have them, you don't win. Turning and taking flags is paramount. If you do this and chose medic or support, just think of how many points you can earn WHILE winning the round ! Just shows how GS is more important to some than working as a team and winning.

Killing tanks with AT can be done with 2 missiles, but you have to hit the leading edge of the treads at the front or rear of the tank.

Against APCs, hit them in the rump.

Jeeps, do NOT hit them in the front grille, it doesn't one shot kill/flame anymore, and you'll most likely become roadkill. Hit them in the side or rear. If you have only a front shot, do not fire. Find a new firing position and save the rocket.

The P90 isn't that great a weapon, as other have stated, if you MUST take it, pretend it is a pistol with a 50 round clip and a red dot scope, and you'll do better with it.

                          hahaha

My suggestion is if you use AT you are probally good with the crappy stock guns, so go with a class with an AK or anyother good assualt rifle and own it up and realize how good the other guns are. Also try and alter kits, it never hurts.

                            grenade + unlucky squad = 6 * 2 = 12 points; I disagree my good sir.

                            Using that logic, grenade + unlucky team = 32 * 2 = 64 points; damn that's hot.
