A few weeks ago, in the days before v1.2, I would have said AK-47.
But with the new sniper rifles, the new LMGs, and the new G3A3, the AK-47 is out-shined in virtually every aspect.
I'd have to say G36E now. Even though the AK-47 and G36E haven't changed (I think?) at all, I need the G36E's accuracy to compete with snipers and machine gunners now.

See. This is what I find scary. An "assault rifle" is capable of holding it's own against a "Sniper Rifle" and "LMG/MMG" at Medium/Long ranges (On the games scale of course).

Are you serious? (No, really, I'm not sure I understand exactly what you mean.) I think that's exactly the way it needs to be. If a sniper lets his position be discovered, why shouldn't an assault rifle be abe to give him what for from medium range?
