AK-47, it's the best darn weapon in the whole game IMHO, very powerfull and very accurate, and I love the sound of it.
Absolutely. Regardless of whether it comes with a GL or hand grenades or nothing at all, AK-47 is probably the best all-around weapon in the game. G3 and M16 are pretty close. G3 is a bit more accurate (except when moving) but I can't stand the small magazine. M16 is much more accurate (and has more ammo in the assault kit) but I can't stand the 3-round burst in CQC. These are all pretty good at all ranges; decent accuracy and nothing does more damage per second except shotguns at point-blank range.
i think the G36E as an assault rifle, with the M16 coming in a close second. people keep quoting the lack of full-auto as a disadvantage but i really dont see it - even CQC you can take out 3-4 enemies at a time with well-placed bursts. i think its an advantage more than anything - because even in frantic situations it keeps you firing in optimal bursts.
im no military expert but i am guessing thats why they have burst fire mode on so many military riifles these days. im sure the basic infantryman's instinct whhen suprised (as one would definitely be in CQC) would be to just hold down the trigger. bursts are much more accurate, however. the time between bursts is very short too , so you can fiire off two 3-round bursts at someone and kill them and still waste less ammo the average player uses up in full auto mode.
someone stated earlier that the SVD sucks. for long ranges ill take the M95. with its improved accuracy it is as accurate as the M24 used to be - which is more than accurate enough for most situations. i love sniping people out of humvees, vodniks, helis, etc as well. it also has a significantly shorter draw time which isnt so important as sniper but still nice.
with so many support running around these days i appreciate the 95 dmg to armored. most people in the BF2 world dont run around with full health - since you can take sliver damage from so many things in the game like splash dmg, running tooo fast down stairs, being bumped by players or vehicles, etc. i get far more 1-shot kills with the M95 than the other sniper rifles, and i attribute it to this fact. if someone has so much as a sliver of health missiing they are going down in one shot no matter where i hit them.
for close maps like karkannd i actually prefer the SVD more than anything - i wish there was an unlock like it for USMC. people say the automatic sniper rifles suck, but with the new accuracy improvements they are actually amazing. you just need to know how to use them properly. fast bursts are a bad idea since the deviation between rapid shots is huge. it has a deviation aroound 20 for standing shots so standing/unzoomed or god forbid moving shots on a target are bound to miss.
but when prone/zoomed, it allows you to keep your sights on a target and take them down. its just as accurate as the old M24 or the new M95, so if you are goood at getting headshots it is ideal for taking down multiple targets without losing them while operating the bolt. close-range, it has saved my life so many times. the other day i was running to cap the flag at the karkand hotel spawn, beneatth the big archway where MEC sometimes spawn across from the flag. there were 2 support guys in there. i proned and unloaded all 10 rounds in a split second, they both died. another guy spawned, i switched to my pistol and took him out. the SVD - if you can prone, aim and click like a mofo - can be a lifesaver in CQC. its like a ghetto PKM.
ah, if this doesnt have to be grounded in real BF2 limits, then id settle for a really hot chick in lingerie. id send her out into the road and while you guys are all standing there oogling her id sneak up and stab you in the head.
