I wish commanders would USE spotting more....
In other words.. I dont need to be spot spammed by a commander telling me there are 15 infantry guys at their only spawn point... What I do like is when a commander will spot the armor or spot a lone wolf guy running the fringes or an apc nearby..... I'm sure I am not alone in this......Comment

I do this alot, and I have to say it works well, on Karkand there was one person on my team defending the flag at the top, and there was like 3 guys around the small building, and I just kept spotting them out for him as I had the UAV on another point, he killed all 3 of them, also with Armor its hard even though you spot it, your team sometimes aren't equipped with the right tools to take the armor out, for instance if they are running around with the assault weapon and there is no TOW around, they can't really do anything.Originally posted by matty0021Comment

By the same token though, I have played on a map where all the commander did was continuously spot so that you couldn't hear anything else (like teammates talking to you, gunfire, tanks, etc). He was even spotting stuff that wasn't even close to anyone. It was VERY annoying and didn't help.Comment

Spotting is very important, especially if you are playing sniper. However i might waste an opportunity for a shot on the target while i am in the middle of spotting him.
What i think should happen is if you sopt an enemy and within a few minutes he is taken out you should recieve a kill assitst, except if you are commander.Comment

I don't do it as often if i'm on my own. But when in a squad i usually do it all the time, too many times i've seen people randomly shoot and die by whoever they were shooting at becuase i couldn't really properly help them as they didn't spot the enemy. Only after did he die i spotted him, but the dude had flanked and killed me too (<--example). If he was spotted i wouldve got the upper hand on him.
Even more important is spotting if your the machine gunner/tank commander (person on mg on tank), seeing as there veiw is......crap, inside the tank. Spotting can save both lives. Especially when those damn snipers think they can snipe you out of the mg. Only to get tank shells blowing them off the roofComment

Bravo.
yep.. ...... Agreed. If I miss taking enemy out or gunna get snuffed anyway - spotting gives that heads up to help out your team.
Armor....boats.....apcs - give your air support an easy kill.
Will muddy things up if you spot somebody if UAV going already there but
nothing like calling out that sniper on corner bldg..... etc.

Spotting is indeed very important, when i'm flying any plane with bombs (basicly any plane) and i hear someone spotting a car, tank, apc i'm with there fully loaded with my bombs within a few seconds... mostly i can take a tank out by diving vertically and i can take and apc out by flying at a 30° angle while firing MG's and dropping bombs. and cars don't have a chanceComment

But it's how other people interpret it that counts, all too often (on public servers anyway) people ignore the fact that this is a squad based shooter. If you're in a squad containing the right elements then you can take down anything in the game (except jets perhaps) and that's when spotting is crucial. Ive seen AT's ignoring tank/APC rushes and trying to pick off snipers 200 feet away!Originally posted by LaGrenouille

I spot loads. I think it's an important task and it lets you keep track of the spottee using the radar, what direction he's looking in or if that tank is suddenly heading towards you while you're behind that corner.
I spot helicopters all the time and aircraft if I can be bothered, hoping that the friendly airforce will take them out.
I only wish it was reported better ingame, like a separate menu rather than filling the chat area with hundreds of spotting messages, rendering all keyboard based communication even more useless.Comment

I always spot the enemies i see, but mainly if they are capping a flag. It only takes a split second to spot them so i rarely die from spotting an enemy.
The way i see it, i find it useful if my teammate spots enemies, so i figure other people will too. So thats why i always spot a threat to my team.Comment
