Guys and Gals ,

After much deliberation i have just brought a new PC spec as follows

Amd 4400
2 Gb Corsair Ram
2 * 6800 Gt in Sli
Asus 8 Mother board

Aha you say big deal. Well the first thing i ran on- line with it was BF2 and to say i was impressed would be the understatemnet of the year . After years of playing C&C Generals /Zero Hour i am a complete newbie to the first person shoot em up scene .

Im getting my ass whoped alll over the place at the moment and have no real idea of what i am upto !!! This forum seems a mountain of information but can someone tell me where to start and how to go about it .

yea - single player is REALLY easy but it sets you up for how to best play multiplayer.

My best tip is to use your ears. A good pair of headphones/surround sound will save your skin if you know where the enemy is. That said watch the minimap in the top right of your hud. If you know where friendlies are you can deduce whether or not gunfire nearby is them or not.

Its not to hard to get used to the learning curve is nothing compaired to RTS.

itll go as follows.
week 1: you suck, 0 kills 15 deaths
week 2: you suck even more 3 kills 120 deaths
week 3: your getting better 25 kills 30 deaths
week 4: woohoo positive kd ratio 60 kills 50 deaths

Sounds about right to me , i just find the on-line experience to be so real and I love it Man .

When i complete a game how do i understand the scores ?

What do you mean by AMD 4400? Do you mean dual core? And you have two cards in sli? That's a very decent system. I agree, practice in single player, but decent rig. Congrats.

I had no choice but to play on singleplayer, as I was using a computer that had no internet connection on it (only ran on that computer) and since I got BF2 first day it came out, I played singleplayer for a few months until I got my other computer sold, then used that one, but bassically you are better playing in singleplayer.

As for multiplayer I gotta say its much harder depending on the people your playing against, again you will have to watch out for tanks, helicopters on your enemy team as you most likely will get evapourized by them (especially the MEC heli lol) but thats just some of the things that you should be worrying about.

Start from sniper kit. Youll find the distance between you and the bad guys rewarding. Youll also learn patience and acceptance with all the missing shots youre going to experience. Sniper kit also gives you claymores, so youll get a few kills with them to boost your mood.

bunnyhopping: jumping around constantly like a retarded monkey
noobtubeing: useing the grenade launcher(GL) from 2 feet away (also the rocket launcher)
Dolfen(sp) diveing: run jump and lay down repeatedly give a worm effect

theres a load of others.

Btw the most important thing to do is find a good server to play on, id suggest the 50klicks servers they are very well admin'd
