i played over 300 hours never got a purple heart... then i let my brother take a round and he never played before so you can imagine he was getting beat up pretty bad but i never even considered the possibility that he could get a ph. so bam now i have one in my stats for the only round ever played under my ID that wasnt actually me. even though i know no one ever looks at my stats it still bothers me. but oh well. i was going to just give up playing bf2 but then yeah right i cant stop! was going to start new account but i have 40,000 points dont want to give up my rank. oh well

I've earned mine twice...and no, you don't have to stats pad to get it. Just either having a bad day or very good tactics by the other team will get you it very easily. Once, I got it in Dalian Plant...I was just having a bad day there...the second time, I was on MEC team at Karkand and the USMC had captured every base except for Hotel. They purposely didn't capture Karkand so that they could spawn-rape us for the next 150 tickets or so. So, they took their armor from their main base and from Gatehouse and totally covered every spawn point. FINALLY I broke through, destroyed an APC and an Abrams with my rocket launcher, and snuck into the USMC main base and stole their Tank...They totally didn't expect this and I destroyed all of their armor. I also applied for commander and kept dropping supplies on me so I didn't die...lol. It delayed the game, but definately not before they got 20deaths on me and 5 kills for me (1:5 kill/death ratio). Sooooooo, no, this award isn't the best one to have...it's ok to have it, but, I'd consider it more of an honor not to have it.

Yeah, I got mine by accident.:cry: But it really isnt a big deal, it either just means your having a bad day or that you need to get better thats all. I posted a topic about this in my clan website forums, except i said BF2 was disrespecting the purple heart. But I dont think its bad if you get it.

Are medals so blindingly sparkley and hypnotizing that you have to ask yourself if it's bad to have 20 deaths in around with a craptastic k/d ratio?

:|: No i just like to hunt 2 or 3 badges before i start gaming for just pleasure... Since i only play like twice a month, 12 hours a time, i kinda prepare before every time i go. Thats why i've got 71 hours total time played since July 14 2005...

Anyway... It seems like most of you have got it without trying and are happy that way so i'l just let it come when its ready... What medal should a guy like me go for? I really want a medal...

When I drive car and if I see someone with purple heart on their license plate I think "whadda a n00b!". It's wrong, I know..

Contrary to everybody else, I got my purple heart while having a good round. I was running around as a medic (as usual) and kept getting killed because I had the med pack or defibrillator out instead of my gun. I was getting dozens of team points but was a laughable 2-17 in kills. I ended being 6-24 but with 104 team points.

Actually in a full server this can even be tricky to get without lots of suicides.

assuming you can get 5 kills and not accidently get more, then you need 20 deaths, 20x15 second respawn is 5 mins simply looking at the spawn screen, in a full server games last about 15 mins (at least for SF) you've got something like 30 seconds of running to get anywhere near enemies sometimes.

I got mine intentionally, this is not something I can see anyone getting by accident, we all understand this, so i got mine just for completenes (im aiming to get everything)

Never got it. In fact, I remember when the game first came out in a topic such as this, I said that I never got it in my 50 hrs of game play (50 hrs was a lot back then lol). I remember someone saying that I would get it, in fact I would get it my very next round, in fact I probably got it now and am just being a jerk about it.

Well...450 game play hrs later...I don't believe I've ever gotten close to getting one...maybe...somewhat close when I was having a horrible game...but even in my horrible games I tend to keep a 1:1 kill death ratio...so...ya lol

in my opinion...the award isnt a bad award...but...perhaps if they made the reqs for it more...honorable lol...like lets say X amount of healing points or...some team points that help the team and you were killed reviving someone or something like that, would make it a much more desired award.

why not have it when u get revived a certain amount of times in combat. Would make more sense than being awarded for dying.
